CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED LANDMARKS CONIlVIISSION HELD IN OLD TOWN HALL MONDAY, JULY 11, 2005 MINUTES 1. ROLL CALL: Chairman Lang called the meeting to order at 7:06 pm. PRESENT: Chairman J. Lang; Commissioners; P. Schumann, B. Lord, M. Davis, P. Barker, and T. Schock. - ALSO PRESENT: ABSENT: Board member D. Rerko and R. Bohlmann U. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES: J. Lang moved to approve the May 9, 2005 Landmarks minutes as written. P. Schumann seconded the motion, which was unanimously approved. Mr. Barker requested the minutes reflect tha,t Mr. & Mrs. Lueckel were asked several times to consider painting their home instead of vinyl siding it. The minutcs should reflect that the commission truly tries to encourage homeowners to abide by the ruies. Nfr. Rerko requested the mi.nutes reflect that W. Ulewicz basement was originally the Radriquez homes barn and change the word drive-bay to garage door. B. Lord moved to approve the June 13, 2005 Landmarks minutes as corrected. M. Davis seconded the motion, which was unanimously approved. III. RECEPTION OF VI5ITORS: Ms. Thogmartin Ms. Cadwallader, l'resident of the Olmsted Historical Society. IV. NEW BUSINESS: Mrs. Lord announced that there was a homemade sign in front af the Stearns home advertising 3 acres were for sa1e. The commission discussed visiting the site in prior years to take pictures of tlie horne and tried to date the home and figure out if and what additions were added. Mrs. Lord hoped that if the city picks the site for the fire house that the home would be preserved. Mr. Schumann inquired if Frostville Museum would be interested in obtaining the home. Ms. Cadwallader indicated that Frostville would be interested in the home, but it was at the discretion of the Metro Parks whether there is room or if allowed. She had meationed the David Johnson Stearns home to the Metro Parks and they indicated that they would be interested and have the room for one more home at the museum. She believes that the home would be a beautiful addition to finishing off Frostville as many of the homes aze from the same timeframe. Mr. Schock hoped that the city and owner consider donating the home to the museum. T. Schock moved that in the event that the City selects the David Jahnson Stearns home for the nevP location of tbe fire station the city and current owner make every effort to save the home and carriage Louse and relocate them if necessary to Frostville Museum as it is such a significant property for North Olmsted and in history as it was
