CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING <br />COUNCIL CHAMBERS <br />TUESDAY, MARCH 8, 2005 <br />MINUTES <br />1. CAUCUS: <br />None called <br />II. ROLL CALL: <br />Chairman Koeth called the meeting to order at 7:40 p.m. <br />PRESENT: Chairman R. Koeth; Board members; J. Lasko, S. Hoff-Smith, W. Spalding, and <br />M. Yager. <br />ALSO PRESENT: Assistant Law Director B. O'Malley, Planning Director K. Weriger, <br />Building Commissioner D. Conway, City Engineer G. Durbin and Clerk of Commissions D. <br />Rote. <br />ABSENT: Board member; T. Hreha <br />III. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES: <br />The Planning Commission minutes from February, 22, 2005 have been . submitted for <br />approval. i ? ?, ?,? <br />R. Koeth moved to approve the Planning Commission minutes dated February 22, 2005 <br />as written. W. Spalding seconded the motion which was unanimously approved. <br />IV. COMMUNICATIONS: <br />V. OLD BUSINESS: <br />1. Halleen Kia, 27726 Lorain Road, (WRD 1): <br />Proposal is to request a letter of appropriateriess for an addition to the existing showroom and <br />site improvements. Note: Architectural Review Board approved this proposal on 1/19/05. <br />Planning Commission referred this proposal to Landmarks 1-25-05. The Board of Zoning <br />Appeals Board tabled variances on 2/3/05 and addressed amended variances on 3/3/05. <br />Department Reports: <br />Planning Director Wenger reported that it was the applicant's second appearance before the <br />Planning Commission. At the January 25t' commissions meeting, the Architectural Review <br />Boaxd comments were considered, and the Commission forwarded the applicant to both <br />Landmarks Commission and the Board of Zoning Appeals. The plans received in the <br />commissioner's packets reflect some of the changes that Planning Commission <br />recommended, particularly the elimination, of several variances. However, the applicant <br />chose to proceed with other variance requests which were opposed by Planning Commission. <br />On February 14th, the Landmarks Commission granted the applicant a certificate of <br />appropriateness based upon the following conditions and recommendations: <br />. Red brick pavers added to the right-of-way from the Porter Road drive to the southwest <br />corner of the existing building <br />• Four additional honeylocust trees added to the front of the building <br />• Existing oak trees along Porter Road to be preseryed <br />1 ; 1
