OLD BUSINESS:
IV. NEW BUSINESS:
The group discussed the homecoming event, and the idea of presenting the history of the
Landmarks Commission as part of the City display. They discussed having something similar
to an open house, and notify the residents of Butternut that they will be present. They can
make a presentation about their involvement and responsibilities in the community. Mrs. Lord
said that in previous years there was an interest in their tent, people would stop by, ask
questions. A slide show drew in people. Mr. Schumann mentioned that the historical society
will not be participating this year due to the decline in interest. Suggestions were made to
create a collage of the historical homes in the city, the Barton Road project, etc. Mr. Dubowski
will be working for Community Council for advertising. Mrs. Lord requested that Shannon
purchase four tri folds and have them present at the next meeting in August. Handouts will be
created including the history of North Olmsted, and Butternut Ridge in particular; they would
like 3,000 copies. Commission members will be at the City display between 2-4 pm on
Saturday, August 26t1' to answer questions. A letter will go out to the Butternut Ridge residents
the week of the 13th. The Light up Butternut Ridge will be mentioned in the letter to suggest
the idea to Butternut residents.
The group discussed the Stearns home marker. The stones at the
site of the Oxcart Library were used inside the building when it was built. Mrs. Lord
mentioned that the state requires the sign be near the road so that it is visible while driving.
Mr. Schumann mentioned that there are a few homes on Butternut that are rapidly deteriorating.
The Biddulph house is one of those homes, 2586 Butternut Ridge, built in the 1850's. Mr.
Schumann suggested the inspector should stop by, that the home hasn't been painted in 15
years, which could cause damage internally. Mrs. Davis said the home was sold 5 years ago to
the Rocks, however, their involvement has waned. Several circumstances impeded the
progress of the Rocks' repairing the home and projects have not been completed. The owner
