- ?. <br />LANDMARKS COMMISSION <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MEETING MINUTES OF SEPTEMBER 10, 2007 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Chair Schumann called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in Old Town Hall. <br />Present: Paul Schumann, Dale Thomas, Larry Orlowski, Maryellen Davis, Tom Dubowski, <br />Tom Schock <br />Absent: John Lasko, Jr., Jeff Herwick <br />Staff: Assistant Law Director Bryan O'Malley <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Mr. Schock moved, seconded by Mrs. Davis, to approve the minutes of August 13, 2007, which <br />was unanimously approved, 6-0. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Historical Markers <br />Mr. Schumann discussed the Stearns historic marker and the use of foundation rocks for a <br />display at the new Fire Station #2. Mr. Schock requested a site plan for the Fire Station in order <br />to draft a plan for the use of the stones. The Commission is interested in creating a stone wall <br />near the trail entrance to the Metroparks. The Commission will need to speak with the <br />Metroparks and the Planning Director regarding the wall concept. Mr. Schumann mentioned that <br />the Stearns marker was taken down and suggested planning a re-dedication event when it is <br />replaced. Mr. Thomas mentioned that the Ohio Historical Society would like to participate in the <br />Springvale marker ceremony and perhaps the Commission could have both dedications in <br />November. The Springvale marker will be placed near the entrance of the facility, near the <br />sidewalk. Mr. Schock suggested having another open house at Fire Station #2 to coincide with <br />the Stearns maxker dedication. <br />Beriv Lord's Proclamation <br />Mrs. Davis spoke with the Mayor's office and confirmed that Betty Lord will receive a <br />Proclamation for her work with the Landmarks Commission. Mrs. Davis will continue to <br />research the information to submit to the Mayor's office. <br />Stearns Road <br />Mr. 5chumann reviewed the excerpt from the Planning and Design Commission, which <br />referenced the Mayor's assurance that Stearns Road will in fact maintain its given name, to be <br />extended to Westlake border. <br />Mr. Orlowski moved, seconded by Mr. Thomas, to propose a Resolution that at.the request of the <br />Landmarks Commission and its members to the Cuyahoga County Engineer Robert Klaiber to <br />name the section of County Road 76 ftom the southern Olmsted Township/North Olmsted border <br />to the northern North Olmstedl Westlake border as Stearns Road and to keep that name into
