+r <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />CULTURAL ACTIVITIES COMMISSION <br />MEETING MINUTES OF NOVEMBER 5, 2008 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Acting Chair Martindale called the meeting to order at 7:09 p.m. at the North Olmsted Branch <br />Library. <br />Present: Faye Curry, Beverle Martindale, David Wahl, John Kepperley <br />Absent: Gerald Yustick <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Mr. Kepperley moved, seconded by Mr. Wahl, to approve the minutes of October 1, 2008, which <br />were approved, 4-0. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Cultural Event <br />Based on a discussion with Ms. Curry, Ms. Martindale suggested the Cultural Activities <br />Commission consider sponsoring a black history event or a multi-cultural event that would <br />include drama, music such as gospel, and ethnic food. The idea was well received by the <br />Commission members; however no specific plans were made. <br />New Appointments to Cultural Activities Commission <br />Appointment of new members was discussed. John Kepperley would like to recommend two <br />people. Ms. Martindale suggested Linda Little and her husband. <br />2009 Juried Art Show <br />Applications will be mailed in January of 2009 for the show in August. No additional <br />information is available at this time. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Holidav Lightins Contest <br />Prize ideas include a plaque, Malley's candy, and/or a certificate or award from Mayor O'Grady. <br />Prizes will be awarded for the best traditional, best contemporary, and best over the top displays. <br />Ms. Martindale will ask Linda Little to submit information on the contest to the local papers. <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS
