CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />CULTURAL ACTIVITIES COMMISSION <br />MEETING MINUTES OF AUGUST 6, 2008 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Chair Garland called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. at the Frostville Museum. <br />Present: Gerald Yustick, Beverle Martindale, John Kepperley, Royden Garland, David <br />Wahl <br />Absent: Faye Ctury, Timothy Ulewicz <br />Also Present: Barbara Brown, Paul Schumann <br />REVIEW ANI) CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Mr. Wahl moved, seconded by Mr. Kepperley, to approve the minutes of July 9, 2008, which <br />was unanimously approved, 5-0. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Frostville Art Show <br />Mr. Kepperley distributed copies of the draft program for review. Resources needed for the <br />hospitality tent, signage issues, commission member responsibilities, weather concerns, and <br />various other show logistics were discussed. Next year's Juried Arts & Crafts Festival is <br />scheduled for August 9, 2009. <br />Christmas Lightint! Contest <br />Copies of contest brochures were distributed to commission members for circulation. Mr. <br />Kepperley indicated the contest information would be made available at the Homecoming <br />festival, at the Library, on the City cable channel, and on the City website. Award ideas such as <br />a letter or a proclamation from Mayor O'Grady were suggested. A schedule for judging will be <br />discussed at a future meeting. <br />Frostville Area Streetscape Banners <br />Maps of banner locations distributed. A goal for 2009 is to obtain funds for the purchase of <br />additional banners and have them installed in a wider geographic area of the City. The Frostville <br />banners can be displayed until the weather changes; the banners for the Art Show can be taken <br />down after the show. Unless it is decided otherwise, the banners will be stored at Old Town <br />Hall. Creating banners for the Butternut Ridge Historical District in conjunction with the <br />Landmarks Commission was discussed. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Music Event
