Mr.
Palumbo submitted a certified copy of a Cuyahoga County Real Property computer database
page from the County Auditor's office listing the year built as 1825. County records also
indicate that taxes have been collected on a single-family colonial home on that lot since 1825.
Additional information copied from the Cuyahoga County Archives has since been lost. When
the Palumbos went back to the archives the files could not be located. Mr. Schumann explained
a survey was completed in 1985 by Steve McQuillen. Concerning this property, the survey
states Orson Spencer came to Olmsted in 1830 along with John Kennedy and others. This house
and the Kennedy house were originally the same type, and therefore both must have been built in
1840. If the exact year cannot be clearly determined the plaque could read "circa," if agreed by a
vote of the Commission. Mrs. Palumbo plans to docuxnent the stories they have learned about
the home. Mr. Palumbo said one of the stories involves a poltergeist on the second floor, which
is still active. Mr. Schumann said a representative of the CounTy Recorder's office has offered to
present the Commission with research on several homes as determined by the Commission. If
acceptable to Mr. Palumbo, his home could be submitted as part of the research project. The
request for recognition would be tabled until the presentation. Mr. Palumbo agreed. Meanwhile,
any additional information Mr. and Mrs. Palumbo can provide would be helpful.
