CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />CULTURAL ACTIVITIES COMMISSION <br />20091VIEETING INDEX <br />JANUARY 7, 2009 <br />¦ December 3, 2009 Minutes <br />¦ Guest: Lisa Nemeth of North Coast Production <br />¦ Holidav Lighting Contest 2008: Mayor O'Grady awarded prizes (engraved Christmas <br />ornament from Things Remembered & certificate) to three winners on January 6th <br />¦ Juried Arts & Crafts Festival: Lisa Nemeth of North Coast Promotion is working for <br />event scheduled for August 9, 2009, for which they will earn a percentage of the <br />registration fees on entries they submit. <br />¦ Appointments: Two positions remain open on the Commission. <br />¦ Dover Players: Three events are scheduled for 2009 - 3 Gems of Slzerloclc Holmes, <br />Clzilrlren's Hour, and Artful Murder. <br />¦ Cluistinas Festival: Seven children attended on December 29, 2008; less than a third <br />of the 2007 attendance. Approximately 70 attended the Minimum Requirements <br />perfoi7nance on December 30, 2008. <br />FEBRUARY 4, 2009 <br />¦ January 7, 2009 Minutes <br />¦ Guest: Paul Schumann, President of Olmsted Historical Society and Chair of <br />Landmarlcs Commission <br />¦ Juried Arts & Crafts Festiva12009: Flyers have been mailed; Band & Orchestra <br />Boosters will be provided a table at no cost and will sell concessions. <br />¦ Blaclc History Month: In addition to a static display, the North Olmsted Library is <br />hosting several events. <br />¦ Centennial of Village of North Olmsted & City Schools: Schools are planning event <br />for fa112009 to commemorate anniversary. It is planned to provide information on the <br />centeiulials at various Olmsted Historical Society and Kiwanis events throughout the <br />year. <br />¦ Dover Plavers: Planned performances are underway with minor scheduling changes. <br />¦ Council: Updated Council and committee information distributed. <br />MARCII 4, 2009 <br />¦ February 4, 2009 Minutes <br />¦ Guests: Barbara Brown, Jimar Curry ¦ Juried Arts & Crafts Festiva12009: No applications received to date; application fee <br />is $50. A reminder postcard will be mailed in late May. The May 6th CAC meeting <br />will be held in the High School office so the school art show exhibits may be judged. <br />¦ Blaclc History Month: The Underground Railroad presentation was cancelled due to <br />the presenter being ill; the other events were held. <br />¦ Centeilnial of Village of North Olmsted and City Schools: Mr. Kepperley suggested <br />the high school art class participate in the Village Centennial, but the class has a prior <br />conunitment creating banners for car dealerships. ? <br />¦ Dover Players: Practice and preparation for 3 Gems of Sherlock Holmes - the Blue <br />CarUtuicle, the Beryl Coronet, and the Mazarin Stone - is underway. <br />Page 1 of 5
