i <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />CULTURAL ACTIVITIES COMMISSION <br />MEETING MINUTES OF AUGUST 5, 2009 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Chair Yustick called the meeting to order at 7:20 p.m. at Frostville Museum. <br />Present: Gerald Yustick, Beverle Martindale, David Wahl, John Kepperley, Faye Curry, <br />Barbara Brown <br />Also Present: Paul Schumann, President of Olmsted Historical Society; Lisa Nemeth of North <br />Coast Productions <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />2009 Juried Arts & Crafts Festival <br />Mr. Kepperley distributed information on two applicants: Holly Zewalk painting and ceramics, <br />and Tiffany Skully yard sculptures. Lisa Nemeth distributed information on three applicants: <br />Barbara Scott metal work, Linda Goik eclectic pieces from Local Girl Gallery, and Terry <br />Greenfield pie candles. All applicants were accepted. Thirty eight artists have been accepted for <br />this year's festival. Mr. Kepperley will print the programs at City Hall. <br />Ms. Nemeth indicated that if the school's art department and Kiwanis are favorable, she could <br />arrange to display the students' art work at Tower City. Mr. Kepperley will discuss the <br />possibility with the teachers. <br />For event parking, Mr. Schumann asks that the nearer spaces be left for persons with disabilities. <br />Once the exhibitors have unloaded, they are asked to park as far out in the field as possible. Two <br />to three people will assist with event parking. <br />Cultural Activities Commission Meeting Time <br />After a brief discussion it was agreed to start the spring and summer meetings at 7:00 p.m. and <br />for the fall and winter months beginning in October at 6:45 p.m. <br />Centennial of Village of North Olmsted and City Schools - Parade Entry <br />Ms. Martindale has no new information; the parade entry is moving ahead as planned. <br />Cemetery Imnrovement Proiect Fundraising Event <br />Mr. Kepperley will pick up Cemetery Improvement Project flyers to display at the festival. He <br />and Mr. Schumann have planned a basket raffle, with tickets to the Metroparks golf courses and <br />items from Famous Dave's, to benefit the project. The Kiwanis will write a check in the amount <br />of the raffle proceeds to the Olmsted Historical Society for the cemetery improvements account.
