Mr. Schock's recommendation
was to apply for a Certified Local Government grant to pay for this program. Ms. Wenger said
she learned that CLG grants are limited to national register and national register eligible
properties; local historic designation does not qualify. Therefore, the CLG grant could not fund
this program. Mr. Schock said loans are awarded up to $127,000 at 3.5% interest. Mr.
Schumann said there is a program through the Cuyahoga County Treasurer's Office for home
rehabilitation loans. Ms. Wenger said similar programs are also available through the
Department of Development Housing Services Division. Mr. Schumann said the advantage with
the Cleveland Restoration Society is that they offer assistance throughout the process.
2009 Annual Report
Achievements in 2009 were discussed including obtaining Certified Local Government status,
the start of the speaker series program, the award of a historic plaque to the Unitarian
Universalist Church in conjunction with their 175?' anniversary, Mr. Schumann's presentation at
the Homecoming Village Centennial Celebration Cake and Ice Cream Social, continuation of the
Cemetery Improvement Project, and approval of several Certificates of Appropriateness. Mr.
Schock suggested looking at the 2009 goals to determine how many were met. Ms. Granfors
will e-mail the excerpt from the December 2008 minutes.
2010 Meeting Calendar
The commission members approved the calendar.
