LANDMARKS COMMISSION <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MEETING MINUTES FOR FEBRUARY 9, 2009 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Mr. Schumann called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in Council Chambers and Mr. Dubowski <br />led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Present: Paul Schumann, Thomas Schock, Tom Dubowski, Maryellen Davis, John Lasko, <br />Larry Orlowski, Jeff Herwick, Donald Rerko <br />Absent: Dale Thomas <br />Staff: Planning Director Kim Wenger, Secretary Tricia Granfors <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Mr. Dubowski moved, seconded by Ms. Davis, to approve the January 12, 2009 minutes, <br />which were unanimously approved. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Certified Local Government <br />Mr. Schock moved, seconded by Mr. Lasko, to approve the Landmarks Commission <br />Annual Report 2008, with minor edits as submitted, which was unanimously approved. <br />Mr. Rerko moved, seconded by Mr. Orlowski, to approve the Historic Preservation Plan <br />and related Historical Resources Map, with minor edits as submitted, which was <br />unanimously approved. <br />Mr. Schock moved, seconded by Mr. Lasko, to approve the Butternut Ridge Historic <br />District flyer with miner edits as submitted, which was unanimously approved. In addition <br />to other venues, this flyer will be distributed to the Butternut Ridge Historic District residents <br />with their invitation to the first speaker series event in April. <br />The list of recognized properties was discussed. It was agreed to make several revisions <br />including the order of the categories, the addition of a fifth category, "North Olmsted <br />Landmarks," changing the second category from Ohio Historic Markers to Ohio Historical <br />Markers, revising the scope in the description of the Butternut Ridge Historic District, and <br />removing the Stearns House from the Ohio Historical Markers category. <br />Cemetery Improvement Proiect <br />Mr. Schumann briefly reviewed the Cemetery Committee Meeting, which was held prior to the <br />Landmarks meeting. Needs, partnerships and outreach, resources, priorities, and various ideas <br />for inclusion into the plan were discussed. The Olmsted Historical Society voted to open a new <br />bank account for the cemetery improvement program.
