CITY OF 1VORTH OLMSTED <br />CULTUI2AL ACTIVITIES COMMISSION <br />MEETING MINUT'ES OF SEPTEMBER 1, 2010 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Chair Yusticlc called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. at the North Olmsted Branch Library. <br />Present: Beverle Martindale, John Kepperley, Gerald Yusticlc, Nasreen Starner, Miguel <br />Cora <br />Absent: David Wahl, Barbara Brown <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Mr. Kepperley moved, seconded by Mr. Cora, to approve the August 4, 2010 minutes, <br />which were approved 5-0. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />City Hall Art Gallery <br />Coimnissioners reviewed Lori Lancaster's application which included ten examples of her work. <br />Each example was reviewed to determine which pieces would be displayed. The following <br />pieces were chosen for display in 2011: Summer Land Daisy, Daisy Bouquet, September Roses, <br />Marblehead Autumn and Cabin in Country. The current display period will end September 30tn <br />and John Spyalc will be scheduled to display his art work October lst though the end of the year. <br />Easter E2g Hunt <br />Mr. Cora said he spolce to the Recreation Center about having an Easter Egg Hunt next year and <br />they are very excited. They believed the city would be able to sponsor and hold the event. Mr. <br />Kepperley said the Kiwanis had a bunny suit they would lend and asked if the recreation center <br />could afford banners to display at the park which runs about $300 apiece. Mrs. Starner <br />suggested the recreation center could place news of the event it in their spring newsletter and the <br />PTA could include the announcement in their flyer. <br />Mr. Kepperley reviewed fundraising ideas such as pancalce brealcfast with Santa which the <br />Kiwanis do annually. He reviewed the volunteers who help with the event as well as the costs <br />involved. Mrs. Starner said Best Buy is always loolcing for community service events to help <br />with and they will be helping the PTA Halloween party by having a booth and taking pictures. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Cominissioners briefly reviewed for the new members the Holiday Lighting Contest which they <br />sponsor each year. North Olmsted residents submit an application to have their exterior lighting <br />displays in the contest. Commissioners choose three winners in the categories of traditional, <br />contemporary and best of show. This year will be the third year holding the lighting contest.
