CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />CULTUI2AL ACTIVITIES COMMISSION <br />MEETI1oTG MINUTES OF APRII. 7, 2010 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Chair Yustick called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. at the North Olmsted Library. <br />Present: Gerald Yustick, Beverle Martindale, John Kepperley, Nasreen Starner, David <br />Wahl, Miguel Cora (arrived late) <br />Absent: Barbaxa Brown <br />Also Present: SITES student Alec Schumann <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Mr. Wahl would like the March 3, 2010 minutes to reflect that his absence from the meeting was <br />excused. <br />1VIr. Kepperley moved, seconded by Ms. Martindale, to approve the minutes as corrected, <br />which vvas approved 5-0. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Juried Arts & Crafts Festival <br />Mr. Kepperley has not received any additional applications on which to report. The deadline is <br />in late July or early August. Lisa Nemeth of North Coast Productions will be invited to the May <br />meeting. Mr. Kepperley has been communicating with several groups concerning free <br />performances at the festival. <br />Parkfest, June 13 & 27, 2010 <br />Mr. Schumann reported the event will be called Parkfest and an event logo, created by student <br />graphic artist Jordan Sowicki, was presented to the commissioners. The logo will be used on <br />banners, flyers, and possibly buttons. Ms. Martindale feels the font needs to be clarified so that <br />the letters can be better identified. Mr. Yustick recommends the word `concert' be added. The <br />benefits of removing the year indicator from the logo for future use of banners and promotional <br />material were discussed. Revisions will be made. <br />Mr. Schumann is working with Guitar Center for funding the banner purchase and negotiating <br />the deposit amount for the use of amplifiers, microphones, and other equipment. His concerns <br />on partnering with Guitar Center were discussed. He will also request a discount or donation <br />from Sign A Rama for the banners. Two Chick-fil-A Spirit Night event fundraisers have been <br />scheduled. Volunteers are needed to work the fundraiser at the North Olmsted Chick-fil-A on <br />Wednesday, April 14 and Wednesday, May 19 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Mr. Wahl volunteered for <br />April 14. Mr. Kepperley and Ms. Starner will also assist. The money earned through the <br />fundraisers will be used for auxiliary police fees, equipment deposits, and the banners if
