PLANNING & DESIGN COMMISSION <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MEETING MINUTES FOR JANUARY 12, 2011 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Mrs. Meredith called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. in Council Chambers and led the Pledge <br />of Allegiance. <br />Present: Melissa Meredith, Robert Parry, Greg Malone, Ralph Bohlmann, Don Rerko <br />Absent: Jim Cotner <br />Staff: Planning and Development Director Kimberly Wenger, Assistant Law Director Bryan <br />O'Malley, City Engineer Petro DiFranco, Clerlc of Commissions Donna Rote <br />ELECT CHAIR AND VICE CHAIR <br />Mr. Rerko nominated Mrs. Meredith to serve as Planning & Design Commission Chair for <br />2011, seconded liy Mr. Malone, which was approved 4-0. Mrs. Meredith abstained. <br />Mrs. Meredith nominated Mr. Malone to serve as Planning & Design Commission Vice <br />Chair for 2011, seconded by Mr. Bohlmann, which was approved 4-0. Mr. Malone <br />abstained. <br />Mr. Rerko nominated Mr. Parry to serve on Landmarks Commission and Mr. Malone to <br />serve on Housing Council, seconded by Mr. Bohlmann, which was approved 5-0. <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Mrs. Meredith moved, seconded by Mr. Rerko, to approve the Planning and Design <br />Commission minutes of December 8, 2010, which was approved 5-0. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />CMS10-37: Exit 2 Self Storage; 31399 Industrial Parkway <br />Proposal consists of new storage canopy and site improvements <br />Ms. Wenger said the proposal is to add an additiona122-vehicle metal storage canopy to the site <br />which is zoned limited industry. Previous expansions were required to use masonry for the north <br />facing wall and metal is proposed. The canopy will be open except for the southernmost four <br />bays which will have metal siding with false doors oi. the west elevation and the existing <br />pavement will be expanded. The applicant proposes to install nine new evergreen trees along the <br />western property line for screening. Mr. DiFranco said that stormwater detention for the entire <br />site was installed in 2004 therefore no additional stormwater is required. <br />Mr. Schmidt reviewed his proposal. In lieu of installing a masonry wall along the north side he <br />will install a metal wall with new landscaping to buffer the site. The architectural fencing along <br />the front of the site will be duplicated along the west property line which is 247 feet and 9 new
