44 <br />'K <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />"TOGETBER WE CAN MAKE A DiFFERENCE!" <br />PLANNING COMIVIISSION <br />MINUTES - JUNE 9, 1998 <br />I. ROLL CALL: <br />Chairman Tallon called the meeting to order at 7:40 P.M. <br />Present: R. Tallon; T. Brennan; D. Cameron-Alston; K O'Rourke; S. Asseff and W. Spalding. <br />Absent: R. Koeth <br />Also present: City Engineer Deichmauu; Assistant Law Director Dubelko; Building <br />Commissioner Conway; and Clerk of Commissions Cornish. <br />II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES: <br />R. Tallon moved to approve the minutes of May 26, 1998, seconded by T. Brennan and <br />unanimously approved. <br />III. BUII.,DING DEPARTMENT REQUESTS: <br />1) Developers Diversified Realty Colp (Hbme Dgpot): Grreat Northem Shopping Ctr. <br />Proposal consists of receiving the approval of the new store front, and re-stripping of parking lot. <br />Heard by Planning commission May 12, 1998, tabled at the Architectural review board meeting <br />May 20, 1998, and tabled by the Planning commission meeting May 26, 1998. Heard at <br />architectural review board June 3, 1998. <br />Mr. Barrow developer presented revised elevations and introduced the following representatives: <br />Mr. Scherry, the developers architect; Mr. Jacinsky, project manager; Mr. Platt representing the <br />proposed tenant; and Mr. Perisi, the tenant architect. Mr. Barrow noted architectural review <br />board approved presentation on June 3, 1998. He advised the revised elevation utilizes the same <br />material pallet approved by the city for the rest`of the shopping center. The "Home Depot Safety <br />Orange" has been muted to a"terra cotta orange" which Mr. Barrow provided copies of for the <br />commissions review. The delivery doors will not be orange, but instead have been replaced with <br />a muted color door to blend in with the build.ing. The orange band on the front elevation has <br />been broken up at the request of the architectural review board. Mr. Barrow advised the <br />architectural review board approved of the orange color. He further explamed there would be <br />two curved E.F.I. S. elements above the two alwninum storefronts as requested by architectural <br />review board to assist in breaking up the facade. It was noted the site plan has been reviewed by <br />the safety department. Mr. Barrow stated all the comments made at the May 12, 1998 planning <br />commission as well as both architectural review board meetings have been addressed and <br />requested a favorable vote on this submission. Mr. Brennan questioned if cut sheets have been <br />presented on the rear lighting fixtures. Mr. Scherry noted the fixtures would match what was <br />approved when the shopping center was presented as a whole. Mr. Brennan asked if the wall <br />packs would be fiilly shielded as requested at the previous meeting. He elaborated the main <br />concern was the wall packs that face the condominium complex as they were to be fully shielded. <br />Mr. Scherry coufinned the residents would not be able to see the light bulb from the <br />condominium property. Mr. Barrow agreed the lights will be fully shielded as requested at the <br />previous planning commission meeting. Mr. Tallon read the motion from the architectural review <br />board meeting of June 3, 1998 as the developer pointed out how the concerns of architectural <br />review board were addressed. Mr. Brennan stated "The Home Depot" on Brookpark Road in <br />Brooklyn utilizes the front outside wall to display merchandise (i.e. sections of fence, bags of
