ROLL CALL: <br />Chairman Zergott called the meeting to order at 5:36 P.M. Present: M. Yager and B. Zergott. <br />Absent: T. Liggett <br />Also Present: Assistant Building Commissioner RyYnarczyk and Clerk of Commissions Cornish. <br />II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES: <br />M. Yager moved to approve.the minutes of Apri122, 1998, May 20, 1998 and June 3, 1998. <br />The motion was seconded by B. Zergott and unanimously approved. - <br />III. SIGNS: There was a presentation for Great Northern Shopping Center which was tabled until <br />later in the meeting. ' <br />N. ? OLD BUSINESS: No items. <br />V. NEW BUSINESS: <br />1) Retail Today (Former Krogars Supermarket) located on the East side of <br />Clague Road, South adjacent to proposed CVS Pharmacv: <br />Proposal consists of Renovations & Reduction of existing structure. Note: Existing structure <br />does not comply with the current setback requirements. Refened by planning commission <br />May 26, 1998. Mr. Petros and Mr. Webber, architects made the presentation. The plan <br />included demolishing a portion of the existing building, but retaining a portion in the rear <br />8,736 (84X104) square feet ofthe existiug building. Mr. Petros verified the floor along with <br />the back and part of the side wall will remain intact, but the remainder of the building will be <br />demolished. He noted everything else on the site will remain as originally approved by city <br />council. The materials to be utilized will match the C. V. S. bu.ilding. Mr. Zergott questioned <br />if the developer has moved the dumpster per the request of planuing commission. Mr. Petros <br />agreed the dumpster will be rotated 180 degrees per the request of plaiuuug commission. In <br />addition to rotating the dumpster 180 degrees, Mr. Yager suggested moving it back to be in <br />line with the drive-thru canopy area. Mr. Petros agreed to comply with Mr. Yager's <br />suggestion. A front elevation sketch was presented and Assistant Building Commissioner <br />Rymarczyk requested to retain a copy for the file. Mr. Yager requested clarification on what <br />type of brick material is utilized on the existing bu.ilding. Mr. Petros advised the existing <br />bu.ilding is constructed out of the 1/2 inch vaneer. Mr. Yager pointed out something will <br />have to be done with the back side of the bu.ilding to prevent any moisture from seeping <br />through and topping the vaneer. He questioned if a cost analysis has been conducted <br />comparing the vaneer to a whitened brick. Although the cost of a whitened brick is almost <br />twice as much as the vaneer, Mr. Yager noted the whitened brick is far easier to maintain. <br />Councilman McKay advised the developer to contact Councilman Gareau regarding this <br />project as he was very unhappy that the developer is requesting to leave the wall. The <br />original presentation called for the demolition of the entire building. Mr. Petms agreed to get <br />in contact with Mr. Gareau regarding the request and noted there is plenty of time since <br />council will not reconvine until the month of August.
