Tallon motioned to approve the Planning Commission minutes of September 14, 1999 as
written. The motion was seconded by K. O'Rourke and unanimously approved.
III. BLTII,DING DEPARTMENT REQLTESTS:
1). North Olmsted Baptist Church; 4816 Dover Center Road:
Proposal consists of adding a recreation center to the existing Church.
Chairman Tallon called all interested parties forward, to review the proposal. Mr. Beatty, from
Star Builders came forward to review the Churches proposal. Mr. Beatty indicated that there
would be two parts to the addition. The majority. of the addition will take place behind the
existing building. It will not be visible from the street and will be a gym/basketball court. There
will also be a warming kitchen that will be used for potluck dinners. The second part of the
revised proposal is a new entrance, which will be a sma11 tower, which will sit at an angle. This
is to depict the main entrance. The building materials will match the existing building as much,
as possible. The building will be brick and match the existing building. On the farthest most
elevations there will be vinyl siding, to give it a residential appearance. Mr. Tallon questioned if
the existing building had any vinyl siding now. Mr. Beatty indicated "no". Mr. Tallon indicated
that the board wanted the entire addition to be brick to help hide the fact that the building is
being added onto. gie questioned if there would be any outside lighting added. Mr. Beatty
remarked that there would be no lighting added except for what is required by code. Mrs.
O'Rourke questioned if the parking lot would remain the same or if parking spaces would be
added. Mr. Beatty reviewed that there is about 120 parishioners on Sundays which equates to
about 40 cars at the most and there are about 71 parking spaces now. 1V1r. Conway examined if
the striping for the parking would be redone. Mr. Beatty reviewed that the striping would be
redone and that the church had dedicated landbanked parking for future needs. Mr. Conway
remarked that if the striping and landbanked parking was shown on the plans it would eliminate
one of the variances needed. There would also be two other variances that would need to be
addressed. There is a sideyard setback variance needed as the plans show 15 feet and code
