Note: The Planning Commission on September 14, 1999 heard this proposal. The
? Architectural Review Board tabled Babies "R" Us at their September 22, 1999 meeting.
0
Chairman Zergott called all interested parties forward. Mr. Elbin, with Developers
Diversified, Mr. Blair, an associate and Mr. Masri, from Babies R Us came forward. Mr.
Elbin commented that the suggestions that were made at the last Architectural Review
Board meeting were passed on to Babies "R" Us. Mr. Masri is present to review the
changes that had been made since the last meeting. Mr. Masri presented a picture of a
computer generated proto type building. Mr. Yager commented that the glass, shadowing,
and canopies were computer generated, then questioned what part of the picture was a
proto type. Mr. Masri indicated that the outline of the building and the colors, he
commented that he had real photos but they did not look as nice. Mr. Masri passed out
new plans to all the board members. The brick is the same color as the fabric stores across
the street so the building will be painted the same color (ponytail that is an earth tone).
The wood band will be removed and as he is not sure what shape the brick will be in an
E.F.A.S. parapet will be put in place. Brick will be used on the bottom of the front facade
for the first 4 feet. Mr. Zergott questioned if the applicants had a material list as was
requested. Mr. Masri indicated that he had a list at his office and would fax it the following
day. Mr. Yager summarized what had been requested at the last Architectural Review
Board meeting. He indicated that he had spent a lot of his private time working with Mr.
Elbin going over what the Architectural Review Board wanted. He remarked that the
current submittal was basically the same as what was submitted the last time and
questioned why that was. Mr. Elbin indicated that there were three issues at the last
meeting. The first concern was the parapet. The second the top corners of the facade
being changed. The third request was the width of the glass, if it could be narrowed down
without changing the inside structure of the store. Mr. Masri showed the board a picture
.
