ROLL CAI.,L:
Acting Chairman Lord called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M.
PRESENT: Acting Chairman B. Lord, Board members, G. Corell, L. VanAuken, K.
O'Rourke, M. Davis, P. Barker, and A. Smeraldi.
ABSENT: Gareau Jr. and D. Lind.
II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF NIINiJTES: The minutes of the Landmarks Commission
meeting held on November 13, 2000 have been submitted for approval.
G. Corell motioned to approve the minutes dated November 13, 2000 as written. A.
Smeraldi seconded the motion and was unanimously approved.
III. NEW BUSINESS:
l. Ronald Kuntz / Squires Roofing Companx25783 Butternut Ridge Rd.
Proposal consists of a new asphalt roof with 20 year service warranty.
Mrs. Lord commented that this proposal has been on the agenda for quite some time. There
needs to be a decision made as to what this board is going to do about this house. The roof is
already in place. She questioned if anyone has had discussion with the owner. No one
replied that they had. Mr. Smeraldi questioned if there is any value in continuing the
discussion of this roof since it is already completed. Mr. Corell questioned that if they don't
have a signed certificate of appropriateness, then how did they get a building permit to do the
roof. Mrs. Lord replied that the Building Department issued them a permit the 30t" of
October, 2000. Then they were referred to Landmarks on November 3, 2000. There needs to
be a fifteen-day notice before the meeting so they couldn't have made it on the November 13,
2000 meeting and there was not a full quorum at the December meeting. That is an awful
long wait for someone to get approval for a roof to be put on. She then commented that the
board should make a decision on the certificate of appropriateness. Mr. Corell questioned if
they fail to provide a certificate of appropriateness tonight, will it put the home owner in
jeopardy of any legal action from the City to undue what was not properly approved. Mrs.
Lord replied that she wasn't sure. Mrs. O'Rourke questioned what the consequences were for
doing something like this that hasn't been approved. Mr. Lang replied that in CVS's case
they would not get their loan. Mrs. Lord commented that the difference is that the Building
Department issued the permit and the homeowner would not be liable for anything.
P. Barker motioned to issue a certificate of appropriateness to Ronald Kuntz of 25783
Butternut Ridge Rd. to install a new asphalt roof with a 20 year service warranty and follow
