R4LL CALL: <br />IVlayor Musial welcomed each new commissioner and opened the meeting at 7:15pm. <br />PRESENT: Board members; B. App, B. Martindale, M. Raig, C. Kilbane, R. Garland and G. <br />Thompson. <br />ALSO PRESENT: Mayor, Musial_ and Clerk of Commission, D. Rote. <br />ABSENT: Board member; L. Beach. <br />II. RENqEVa AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES: N/A <br />III. NEW BUSINESS: <br />1. The Mayor will officially swear in commissioners. <br />Mayor Musial officially called to order the first Cultural Arts meeting and thanked each of the <br />volunteers for donating their time to participate in the Commission. He beIieves that the Cultural <br />Art Commission will be an exciting adventure. The board will have an opportunity to do many <br />aood things for the City of North Olmsted. It may take time to see the benefits of what this <br />board will bring to the City, but in the long run, it will be well worth it. The Mayor swore in six <br />of the seven board members whom were present. <br />2. Commissioners need to elect a Chairperson and Vice Chairperson. <br />The Ivlayor indicated that although it is a very difficult task the first order of business is to <br />establish a chairman and vice chairman. He questioned if there was anyone willing to volunteer <br />for the positions. Mr. Raig indicated that he would be willing to sit as chairman. Mrs. <br />Martindale indicated that she would be willing to serve as vice chairman. <br />B. App rnotioned to appoint Michael Raig as chairman of the Cultural Arts Commission. The <br />motion was seconded by R. Garland and unanimously approved. <br />M. Raig motioned to appoint Beverle Nlartindale as vice chairman of the Cultural Arts <br />Commission. The motion was seconded by G. Thompson and unanimously approved. <br />3. Commissioners need to set their meeting dates for the remainder of the year. <br />The Mayor reviewed that the board needed to set up meeting time/dates for their commission. <br />He indicated that he would like to see the Commission become a fully operational Commission. <br />In order to help them he has assigned a person to contact all the surrounding municipalities in the <br />area to find out if they have Cultural Arts ordinances. If they do they will be asked to send us a <br />copy of their ordinance so that this board can review them and extract the best parts to help them <br />make a full Commission. The Mayor reviewed that the terms of the Commission is only one <br />year. Under the current ordinance there are only 7 members the commission can enlarge the
