ROLL CALL: Chairman Koeth called the meeting to order at 7:40 p.m. <br />PRESENT: Chairman R. Koeth, Board Members; K. O'Rourke, J. Lasko, W. Spalding, C. Allan, <br />S. Asseff, and T. Hreha <br />ALSO PRESENT: Assistant Law Director; B. O'Malley, Assistant Building Commissioner; <br />T. Rymarczyk, City Engineer; P. Deichmann, and Assistant Clerk of Commissions; A. Kilbane <br />II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF NIINIJTES: The Planning Commission minutes dated June <br />1 l"' and June 25th, 2002, and the Planning Commission Work Session minutes of June l lth, 2002 <br />have been submitted for approval. <br />R. Koeth made a motion to approve the minutes of the June 11th meeting. C. Allan seconded the <br />motion and.it was unanimously approved. R. Koeth made a motion to approve the minutes of the June llth work session. W. Spalding <br />seconded the motion and it was unanimously approved. <br />R. Koeth made a motion to approve the minutes of the June 25th meeting. K. O'Rourke seconded <br />the motion and it was unanimously approved. <br />1. BUII.,DING DEPARTMENT REQUESTS: <br />1. Gasoline Service Station(JGD Associates)25199 Lorain Road: <br />Proposal consists of renovation of existing store, exterior and pump station canopy.. <br />Chairman Koeth called all interested parties forward to review the request. Mr. Don Reiman, an <br />attorney from Cassidy & Reiman, and Mr. John Dzwonczyk, of JGD Associates; came forward <br />on behalf of Shell. Mr. Koeth asked if they have any new plans or changes. Mr. Dzwonczyk <br />indicated they are not presenting any changes. He said they would like to re-present to the full <br />board the Shell service station located at the southeast corner of Great Northern Blvd. and Lorain <br />Rd. He distributed some "before and after" photos of the site. He said the existing facility is in <br />need of updating. Mr. Asseff asked for confirmation that the station in question is at Great <br />Northern and Lorain. Mr. Dzwonczyk indicated it is at Crreat Northern and Lorain. He added <br />that the station at Clague was approved by the board at the last meeting. The board members <br />reviewed the photos. Mr. Dzwonczyk said the proposed color scheme is white and yellow, as <br />opposed to the existing scheme which is gray and yellow. He said there was some discussion at <br />the last meeting about whether or not the canopy will be illuminated. Mr. Dzwonczyk reasserted <br />that it will not be illuminated. There was also a question about the Shell letters being <br />illuminated. They are proposing that they be illuminated. Some of the previous discussions <br />centered on what the BP station has, and as a result they took a photograph of the BP station. He <br />pointed out that they have illuminated signage. Mr. Koeth indicated they board is only interested <br />in the Shell station and would like to focus on that. Mr. Spalding asked Mr. Dzwonczyk if they <br />discussed the dark blue' that the board objected to. Mr. Dzwonczyk responded that they <br />discussed it and they are willing to either minimize or eliminate the blue altogether. Mr. Asseff <br />commented that he wondered why the blue is there at all since it is not a corporate color. Mrs. <br />O'Rourke asked if the Shell lettering at the Clague Rd. station is illuminated. Mr. Dzwonczyk <br />indicated the color bands are not illuminated and the lettering is illuminated. Mr. Reiman
