ROLL CALL: Chairman Lang called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. <br />PRESENT: J. Lang, L. VanAuken, P. Barker, B. Lord, M. Davis, T. Dubowski, and J. Dailey <br />ALSO PRESENT: Assistant Law Director B. O'Malley <br />ABSENT: G. Corell <br />II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF 1VIIleTU'TES: The Landmarks Commission minutes from the <br />September 8, 2003 meeting and the continuance meeting of September 29, 2003 have been submitted <br />for approval. <br />Mr. Dubowski had a correction to the minutes of September 8, page six, the fifth line from the bottom. <br />The word "owns" should be changed to "owned". Mrs. Lord said she would like the minutes of <br />September 29 to reflect that Mrs. VanAuken was excused from the meeting. <br />B. Lord macle a motion to approve both sets of minutes as corrected. The motion was seconded <br />by P. Barker and unanimously approved. <br />III. RECEPTION OF VISITORS: Ralph Warnick, Mr. & 1VIrs. LTlewicz, Mayor Musial, Mrs. <br />Martindale, and Mr. Dial <br />IV. NEW BUSIloTESS: <br />Ralph Warnick, 26350 Butternut Ridge Road - Resident is seeking a permit for a new garage <br />Mr. Lang said it appears Mr. Warnick wants to have a deeper and taller structure than he currently has. <br />Mrs. Lord asked what the siding will be. Mr. Warnick said his intention is to use the same vinyl siding <br />he has on his home. Mrs. Lord asked how old the home is. Mr. Warnick replied it was built around <br />1940. There was discussion about the location of the home. Mr. Barker asked if Mr. Warnick had <br />come before the board for the siding currently on his home. Mr. Warnick said he did not. Mrs. <br />VanAuken asked about the color to be used. Mr. Warnick indicated the house and the garage will be <br />the same color. <br />J. I,ang made a motion to grant a certificate of appropriateness to Ralph Warnick, 26350 <br />Butternut Ridge Road, per the drawings, with vinyl siding to match the house and trim. The <br />rnotion was seconded by M. Davis and unanimously approved. <br />Marge Lawson's offer to donate historical photos and documents to the Landmarks Commission <br />Mr. Lang said he was able to postpone a decision on a request from Mrs. Lawson as to whether the <br />board is interested in receiving her familial artifacts, which are biographies, and historical <br />photographs. He said Mrs. Lawson is a relative of the Fitch's and the Stearns. She would appreciate <br />an answer as to whether or not the board wants the material she has offered. Mr. Lang said he has <br />only seen the biographies. He said Mrs. Lawson has indicated the photographs are quite good in terms <br />of the history of the older parts of the city related to the Fitch's and the Stearns. Mrs. Lord said she <br />does not question what Mrs. Lawson has to offer. She is more interested in the volume, and wonders <br />if there have been offers to others. Mr. Lang said that Mrs. Lawson indicated she will be patient and <br />wait for an answer depending upon what the board does tonight. She has had other parties express <br />interest in the material. Mrs. Lord said they have always been challenged about this kind of material. <br />They have often said they do not want the originals, they want copies, because they are not in the <br />archive business. Mr. Lang said he believes Mrs. Lawson already made an offer to the library. It was
