CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED
"TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!"
LANDMAI3KS COMMISSION
MINUTES - JULY 14, 2003
IN OI,D TOWN HALL
7:00 P.M.
1. ROLL CALL: Chairman Lang called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.
PRESENT: J. Lang, P. Barker, T. Dubowski, G. Corell, M. Davis, B. Lord, and L. VanAuken
ABSENT: J. Dailey
ALSO PRESENT: Assistant Law Director B. O'Malley
H. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF 1VIINUTES: The Landmarks Commission minutes from the
June 9, 2003 meeting have been submitted for approval.
Mr. Barker indicated there needs to be a correction to page two. The fifth sentence down reads "old"
library and it should read the "new" library. He said that on page three where it reads he called Mr.
Corell, it should actually be "he called Mr. Gareau." On the bottom of that page there should be a
correction where it reads, "Mr. Barker said he can find out who owns the property." It was Mr. Dailey
who said he can find out who owns the property.
B. Lord made a motion to approwe the minutes as corrected. The motion was seconded by P.
Barker and unanimously approved.
III. RECEPTION OF VISITORS:
Brent Saylor & Julie Palivoda
Tony & Misty Mancuso
Representative(s) for Halleen KIA
IV. NEW BUSINESS:
Brent Saylor & Julie Palivoda 25197 Butternut Ridge Road - Resident is seeking a permit for a shed
Ms. Palivoda presented a drawing of the yard to the board. She pointed out there is a fence there now
and the shed is already constructed. Mr. Lang indicated he drove by the property and he noticed the
shed is not visible. Ms. Palivoda explained that she just got married recently and the previous
Landmarks meeting conflicted with their honeymoon. She said they had already scheduled the shed to
be built. The shed company had told them they would handle the permit and it wasn't handled. The
shed was built and the inspector came out and discovered the permit was not on file.
J. Lang made a motion to grant a certificate of appropriateness to Brent and Julie Saylor of 25197
Butternut Iaidge, for the construction of a shed. The motion was seconded by P. Barker and
unanimously approved.
Mr. Barker said he spoke with the Saylor's prior to the meeting and they mentioned they have some
future plans for their house. He suggested that they discuss those plans with the board now. Mr. Saylor
indicated they are planning to get new windows. They have casement windows currently. Mr. Lang
asked if they have anything in mind for the new windows. Mr. Saylor said they are looking at Larmco
windows. They are white vinyl. The basic shape and appearance will remain the same except that they
will slide as opposed to going in and out. Mr. Lang said when they come in for another certificate, they
should bring photographs from the manufacturer. Mrs. Lord pointed out that residents putting in new
windows do not have to come before the board unless they are changing the opening size. She said that
anything requiring a building permit would mean they would come before the board.
