CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />LANDMARKS COMIVIISSIOIV <br />OLD TOWN HALL <br />NOVEMBER 8, 2004 <br />MINUTES <br />1. ROLL CALL: <br />Chairman Lang called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. <br />PRESENT: P. Barker, M. Davis, J. Lang, P. Schumann, T. Schock, <br />ALSO PRESENT: <br />ABSENT: D. Rerko, R. Koeth, G. Nashar and B. Lord <br />II. REVIEW AND CORRECTI0N OF MINUTES: <br />Chairman Lang noted that there were no minutes submitted for approval. He further noted that <br />the evening's minutes were being recorded on Mr. Barker's tape recorder which seams to have a <br />better microphone. <br />III. RECEPTION OF VISITOIaS: <br />Mrs. Fran Heil, applicant for certificate of appropriateness' <br />Mr. Kluth, contractor for Heil property. <br />IV. NEW BUSINESS: <br />1. Fran Heil• 25427 Butternut Rid eg Road <br />Proposal consists of a 20' x 16' addition to rear of home. <br />Mrs. Heil reviewed that the addition would in fact be a 16' x 20' addition to the back of the <br />home. The room will serve as a family-room, the siding, windows, and shingles will match the <br />existing homes color and styles. The siding to be used will be vinyl lap style siding. The <br />homeowner believed that the home was constructed in either 1952 or 1953 and has no <br />basement. The addition will not be seen from Butternut Ridge Road as the home is angled and <br />would hide it from view. The board reviewed that the City offers North Olmsted homeowners <br />10 year tax abatements for additions to their home. Chairman Lang reminded the Commission <br />that the Cleveland Restoration Society has a similar type of programs; however, the Committee <br />opted not to join. Chairman Lang advised the applicant that the Committee would write the <br />Certificate of Appropriateness and provide it to the Building Department. She should be able to <br />pull her permits by the end of the week. <br />P. Barlcer moved to grant a certificate of appropriateness to Fran Heil of 254267 Butternut <br />Ridge Road her request to build a 16' x 20' addition to the rear of existing home as shown in <br />submitted plans. The siding, windows, roof lines, and colors will match the existing home. M. <br />Davis seconded the motion which was unanimously approved. <br />V. COIVIMUNICATIONSe <br />A. Ohio Historical Society flyer- Chairman Lang instructed the Commission that they have the <br />following materials in their packet which talks about archives. Mr. Lang will forward the <br />material to Mrs. Purper, the secretary for the Safety Director who is in charge of City's
