<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting <br /> <br />May 13, 1998 <br /> <br /> <br />Meeting called to order: 710 p.m. <br /> <br />Attendance: Claire Hayes, Chairman <br /> Tim Smith, Vice-Chairman <br /> Tom Jenkins, Safety Director <br /> Carolyn Kasler, City Council Member <br /> Robert Kasler, Member <br /> Todd Morgan, Assistant Commissioner <br /> Pat Scott, Secretary <br /> <br />Absent: Dave Gardner, Member <br /> Rich Scott, Member <br /> <br />Visitors: Annie Wiederstien, Marketing Supervisor <br /> Westshore Figure Skating Club <br /> Ellen Harrison, President <br /> <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes: <br />Mrs. Hayes asked the members to review the minutes of the last meeting of April 8, 1998. A <br />motion was made, seconded and passed unanimously to accept the minutes as mailed. <br /> <br />Visitors Opportunity to Address Commission <br />Annie Wiederstein introduced a proposal to develop a special incentive program to promote <br />increased use of the Parks & Recreation facility and programs. <br /> <br />Under the City of North Olmsted Charter the Hotels and Motels are assessed a Hotel/Motel tax <br />at a rate of 14.5% per occupied room which is typically an additional cost passed to the <br />customer. Mrs. Wiederstien is requesting to offer an incentive for people traveling to attend <br />our facility at resident rate. <br /> <br />Ellen Harrison stated she would like to know if the roof would be completed in time for their fall <br />programs. Mr. Jenkins replied that they had a meeting with three representatives from <br />Polyteck and they were trying to get approval to go ahead with the project. Mr. Jenkins will <br />have Mr. Bohlmann contact Ms. Harrison to let her know what the status is on the roof. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
