NORTH OLMSTED PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION April 16, 2001 Meeting called to order: 7:10 p.m. In Attendance: Claire Hayes, Chairman Dave Gardner, Vice Chairman Tom Jenkins, Safety Director Paul Miller, Council Rep. Member Todd Morgan, Commissioner Absent: Richard Scott, Member Axel Hoyer, Member Visitors: None Claire Hayes called the meeting to order at 7:10pm. Roll call was taken. No visitors were in attendance. st Last meeting’s minutes were reviewed and no corrections were noted. Dave Gardner made the 1 nd motion to approve the minutes, with a 2 by Tom Jenkins. Roll call was taken and motion passed unanimously. REPORT BY TODD MORGAN, COMMISSIONER th Easter Open House on April 8 had a good turnout. Approximately 1500-1800 people were in attendance. It is being considered to recommend to the Mayor that we move the Open House up rd to the 3 week in March and rename it Spring Open House. The reasoning is that in waiting until April, the weather has a better chance of being warmer, thus keeping some of the attendees away from indoor activities. Also, the thought would be to celebrate spring rather than Easter, which is a religious holiday. [Mr. Jenkins suggested that a spring preview and registration of the spring/summer programs be considered at the open house.] Mr. Morgan stated that while we do offer registration for a few programs, it would be difficult to do such a preview and registration, as the spring/summer brochure is not yet completed at the time of the open house. Therefore, registration would not be a feasible option. [Mr. Gardner suggested that posters highlighting new programs be placed around the recreation center.] Mr. Morgan stated that we did highlight a few new programs in the display case behind the ticket booth.
