Lasko, Jr., Member
Paul Miller, Councilman
Betsy Drenski, Assistant Commissioner

Absent: Ted DiSalvo, Commissioner

Visitors: Jeff Marshall, Ice Show
Tom Hatfield, NOSO
Ed Garrity, NOHC
Duane Limpert, Councilman

Visitors' Opportunity to Address Commission

Ice Show

stnd
Jeff Marshall spoke on behalf of the Ice Show, to take place the weekend of the 21 and 22 of
May, 2004, the weekend before Memorial Day. There will be four shows: Friday night at 8:00
p.m.; Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.; Saturday night at 8:00 p.m.; and a Sunday matinee at 3:00
p.m. It's an extremely nice ice show, but it seems as though it's the best kept secret in town. Mr.
Marshall asked the Commission's assistance in both getting the word out on behalf of the Ice
Show and in seeing more community involvement in the show. There is high expense in running a
show of this nature, and the two ways to raise money for this venture is through participation fees
and through ticket sales. It is a self-funding program. An increase in ticket sales is needed. Mr.
Marshall is looking for different community groups to help in this event. The price of the tickets
will be $10 for adults, $8.00 for children and seniors. There is a $3.00 charge for a program.
Advertising runs $100 for a full page down to a business card size. The biggest cost for the show
is the lighting, consisting of lots of color. The cost of the show, including the costumes, runs
between $13,000 and $15,000. The lights run about $7,500. Again, it's a great show. Mr.
Limpert asked if it could be promoted through the schools. Ms. Drenski said that flyers are
distributed through the schools. It can be put into the PTA Newsletter. Mr. Marshall reported
that, as April arrived, he would have more detail for the Commission. Last year, the Ice Show
was designated the official bicentennial event of North Olmsted. An ad is put into the Sun
Newspaper and the Westlife. The show is videotaped. Mr. Limpert suggested that it be played
on the City cable channel as a means of advertising. Mr. Jesse said he would determine what the
capability would be in this regard. There is no city funding for the show. It must pay for itself.
