MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE
NORTH OLMSTED PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION
February 4, 2008

Meeting called to order: 7:00 p.m.

In Attendance: Terry Groden, Chairperson
John Dailey, Director, Community Life Services
Mark Mahoney, Councilman

Ted DiSalvo, Commissioner
Betsy Drenski, Assistant Commissioner
Norm Baxter, Member
Julie Nader, Member
Chris Scarl, Member

Visitors: Jennifer Rudolph
Linda Powell
Ron Tallon, Jr., N.O. Hot Stove
Bob Finch, N.O. Hot Stove
Ed Garrity, NOHC

Mr. Groden opened the meeting and roll call was taken. Everyone then stood, faced the Flag, and
recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

VISITORS’ OPPORTUNITY TO ADDRESS COMMISSION

Hot Stove Improvements to Little Clague

Mr. Groden then entertained the Visitors’ Opportunity to Address the Commission. Mr. Tallon then
identified himself as being with the North Olmsted Hot Stove organization, presenting a letter to the
Commission indicating field improvements to be made to Little Clague Field #1 and #2 Baseball
Diamonds. There are two Diamonds at North Olmsted Clague, and the problem with #1 is
that there are too many high and low spots that constantly flood, both behind second base and behind
home plate. With Diamond #2, there is a problem with the runoff on third base. What is proposed is
twofold: There have been some scheduling issues with almost 600 families in the North Olmsted Hot
Stove Program and the North Olmsted Travel Program. Of course, there are other programs that use
the parks from outside the area, whether it is the Puritas League or softball leagues which Hot Stove
shares Diamond #4 with. One of the things that Hot Stove is trying to do to ease the scheduling
conflicts is make Diamond #1 the same size as Diamond #2 on the infield, and that would allow us to
flip-flop games for the G and H Leagues, and bring in some of the travel games so that we can
eliminate the ball problems we have at the Park. So, what Hot Stove is proposing is to put forth with
