<br />RECREATION COMMISSION <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />26000 LORAIN ROAD <br />MINUTES FOR AUGUST 3, 2015 <br />7:00 P.M. <br /> <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mr. Scarl called the meeting to order at 7:03 at the Recreation Center Administrative <br />Offices and led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> <br /> <br />ROLL CALL <br /> <br />Present: Chris Scarl, Linda Cleary, Vera Brewer, Ed Garrity, Lou Brossard, Marty Clancy <br /> <br />Absent: None <br /> <br />Staff: Betsy Drenski, Commissioner; Chris Wetmore, Assistant Commissioner <br /> <br />Visitor: None <br /> <br /> <br />FITNESS CENTER UPDATE: <br /> <br />Ms. Drenski stated things were going well in fitness, we brought Brad Browning on in May as fitness <br />supervisor. We have been trying to get out to as many community <br />events that we can such as Kawanis picnic, BikeCentennial, Olmsted Falls Heritage Day, <br />Great Northern Mall, and Homecoming. We have purchased items with our name imprinted <br />to pass out at these events such as key rings, lanyards, and pens to help get our name out <br />there. We have been steady with new memberships, including Prime and SilverSneakers. <br />th <br />We will be hosting a senior open house on August 18from 10:00-4:00. The Senior Center <br />will bus their seniors over and Brad has been visiting senior assisted living centers to invite <br />them as well. There will be snacks, a barber shop quartet, tours, and information on all our <br />senior programs. <br /> <br /> <br />SPECIAL EVENT UPDATE: <br /> <br />Ms. Drenski commented on the Ice Show, it had a bicentennial theme, and Jeff Marshall <br />did a great job with all the research and incorporating everything into the show. The Bike- <br />Centennial also went well and had good attendance. July was National Parks and Recreation <br />month, and an ordinance has been passed so that it is now recognized as such in North Olmsted <br />as well. The entire month we celebrated with various events and giveaways in an effort to help <br />keep the Parks and Recreation Department relevant and in the community and to thank the <br /> <br />
