CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION <br />NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO <br />MINUTES <br />MARCH 31, 1983 <br />Meeting of the North Olmsted Civil Service Commission was called to order <br />at 7:55 by Chairman Roger Alexander. In attendance were.Commissioners <br />Roger alexander, Philip Huffman, Randy Perla was ' out off'• .town. <br />Civil Service Secretary Patricia Bahas, Fire Chief Van Kuren, and Police <br />Chief Taylor. were also in attendance. <br />Minutes <br />Minutes of the January 27, 1983 meeting were approved as read by Philip <br />Huffman and seconded by Roger' Alexander. <br />Correspondence <br />Correspondence received and sent can be found on the attached sheets. <br />Financial Report <br />The secretary informed the Commissioners that she had received a call <br />from the president of McCann Consulting Firm informing her that both <br />the Firefighter -Paramedic statement and the Police Promotion statement <br />of expenses incurred by the city had not been paid by the Finance Dept. <br />Mrs. Bahas further informed the Commission that she had discussed this <br />matter with both the Finance Director and the Mayor and had been assured <br />by the latter that the payment would be submitted promptly.. In addition <br />to this problem was the fact that the Civil Service Budget submitted to <br />Council for approval by the Finance Director did not reflect these and <br />other past -due bills which amounted to almost 2/3rds of the total bud- <br />get allowed for the Commission. In response to this situation Mrs. Bahas <br />stated that she had contacted two members of the Council and the Presi- <br />dent of Council and had been granted permission to address them with <br />repect to this problem during their special budget session. Chairman <br />Alexander directed Mrs. Bahas to remind Council that the Commission <br />could not carry out mandated responsibilities without sufficient funds. <br />Old Business <br />The results of the Firefighter -Paramedic Physical Qualifying Test were <br />reported by Mrs. Bahas. The Passing score was established by the Commis- <br />sion to be 325. Twenty one candidates have been placed on the Certified <br />List for appointment purposes and are listed according to rank on the <br />attached sheet. Following the establishment of the list the quality of <br />the test itself was discussed and suggestions were made regarding the <br />consulting service contracted by the Commission. It was felt that the <br />
