a
` } CITY OF NORTH OLOVISTED
CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO
a
MINUTES
December 29, 1983
The meeting of the North Olmsted Civil Service Commission
was called to order at 8:00 P.M. by Chairman Roger Alexander.
In attendance were Commissioner Phillip Huffman and secretary
Patricia Bahas.
Approval of Minutes
Minutes for the meetings of December 8 and December 15 were
approved after the following corrections and clarifications.
December 8th-- judgment regarding appeal process
for suspensions was recently rendered
by a federal judge, not a Lorain
County judge.
December 15th- clarify the "next lower" position by
giving the specific titles for that
position.
Due to a problem with the secretary's
typewriter, the minutes were submitted
in longhand but the typed copies
for signature would contain the
corrections. Commissioners were
asked to compare their longhand copies
with the typed minutes to ascertain
that the final copies were essentially
the same.
Correspondence
Petition for Reconsideration
Commissioners were given the copy of the Petition forreconsid-
eration submitted by Squire Sanders and Dempsey regarding the
Court of Appeals judgment in.the case of Wm. Schneider vs. The
North Olmsted Board of Education. Mr. Alexander.reviewed the_
case for Mr. Huffman who was not a member during the Civil
Service hearing. Mr. Alexander explained that the Commission's
judgment that Mr. Schneider was not entitled to a hearing was
based upon the erroneous information submitted by Asst. Supt.
Robert Storch that Mr Shcneider's position as Grounds Attendant
was being abolished. According to Mr. Alexander, the Commission
later learned that this was not so and that the vacancy created
by the dismissal of Mr. Shcneider was being advertised as a
position to be filled by a teacher. The successful candidate
would combine the duties of Grounds Attendant with the coaching
responsibilities.
Remaining list.of correspondence Can,..be found on the attached
sheets.
A year end finance
of the year due to
by the secretary.
Finance Report
report will not be completed until the first
priority of other Commission responsibilities
