d <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTE® <br />T_ r CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION <br />NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO <br />CIVIL SERVICE MEETING: May 30, 1991 <br />PRESENT: Chairman Robert Wendt, Commissioner Henry Robinson, <br />Commissioner Al Kovelan, Secretary Tracy Ice <br />GUESTS: Safety Director Ernest Gundy, Fire Chief Osterhouse <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED AS READ. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Bob Wendt has not had a chance to get over to the Police Department <br />to review pricing, procedures etc. with Chief Sefcek but does plan <br />to get with the Chief in the near future and then the Commission <br />will decide if it will be beneficial to use PRADCO's services for <br />the City of North Olmsted. <br />Mr. Gundy and Mr. Huggins, of Insight and Attitudes, had a meeting <br />where Mr. Huggins gave Mr. Gundy a proposal for his services to <br />} recruit candidates and train them to do well on our examinations. <br />Mr. Gundy gave the Mayor a copy of this proposal and all the <br />Commissioners now have a copy too. Mr. Gundy said that the proposal <br />will first go to Finance and then the Safety Committee and then <br />Council will have to approve the additional budget. Henry Robinson <br />said Mr. Huggins said that the price in the proposal is the actual <br />cost and if Mr. Huggins can cut the cost in any way he would. This <br />procedure will take some time because the budgets have already been <br />established for this year. Mr. Gundy will keep the Civil Service <br />Commission informed of their status. <br />The Civil Service Commission has decided to up -date North Olmsted's <br />Rules and Regulations Handbook. All Directors and bosses who have <br />Civil Service employees under them will be asked in writing to <br />review the handbook and return to Civil Service any changes and/or <br />comments in writing by July 22, 1991. Examples of some of the. areas <br />which Civil Service is looking at changing will be in the letter <br />which will go out next week. Up -dating of the handbook is something <br />the Commission would like to do every two years. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Robert Wendt asked Tracy Ice to send the Mayor a letter asking him <br />to put in writing if he. appointed Anne Hearns under him. The Mayor <br />can appoint 3 people under him - unfortunately these people do not <br />91 have any coverage they can be discharged at anytime, according to <br />Civil Service.
