CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED
CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO
4MDGGM
CIVIL SERVICE MEETING: October 29, 1991
PRESENT: Chairman Henry Robinson, Commissioner Al Kovelan,
Secretary Tracy Ice
GUESTS: Fire Chief Osterhouse, Safety Director Ernest Gundy
MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING HAVE NOT BEEN APPROVED.
OLD BUSINESS
The Correction Officer Exam. has been okayed by Chief Sefcek. The
testing company which we will use is IPMA out of Virginia. The test
will be scheduled for January 1992.
McCann had advised that they have a Building Inspection Test. Mr.
Gundy felt that we should give a written test rather than an oral
exam. Mr. Gundy would like Tracy Ice to call them and get a sample
test.
Thomas L. Beavers, of the Cuyahoga Community College, sent the civil
service a list of individuals of women and men who have been through
the Police Academy who are interested in taking our Police
Examination. We sent him a letter thanking him for these names.
NEW BUSINESS
The Commission continued to up -date our Rules and Regulations
handbook. The following changes will be made:
1. Paramedic with certificate will be awarded 3'points after
passing examination.
Mr. Gundy thought that points should also be given to candidates who
have completed their training. The Commission did not say whether
or not to put this into the Rules.
2. Boundary Requirements - Al Kovelan says we should either keep
the boundaries we have or do away with them. Al Kovelan also felt
that the boundaries are inappropriate for us at this time. Roger
Osterhouse advised the Commission that 500 of our firemen live here
in North Olmsted now. The Commission decided to have no boundaries
and if within the next two years boundaries are needed then we will
add them to the handbook next time we up -date the handbook.
