I
CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED
CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
5200 Dover Center Road • North Olmsted, Ohio 44070
Phone: 777-8000 Ext. 232
Fax: 777-5889
CIVIL SERVICE MEETING: July 23, 1992
PRESENT: Chairman Henry Robinson, Commissioner Jim Hines,
Secretary Tracy Ice
GUESTS: Chief Osterhouse
MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED AS READ.
OLD BUSINESS
The Property Maintenance test was given on July 6, 1992 at 7:00 pm at
the Community Cabin. There were 116 candidates who were expected to
show but only 106 took the 'test. The testing company which we used
was Cooperative Personnel Services out of CA. We gave two tests one
was a written test which the commission gave 80% and a written essay
question which we gave 20%. The Commission decided to pass all
candidates which scored a 550 or better on both tests combined. There
were 39 candidates which we passed.
Also, at the time of the test three circumstances came up which are as
follows:
1. Candidate Joey Scott came to the exam. without a driver's licence.
We had him thumb printed and the Police Department said that if
this person passes the test that they will then check his thumb
print out and make sure he is the same person who took the test.
2. Lyle Blake had called City Hall the day of the test and asked
where the test would be given. He was told at the High School.
Tracy Ice was made aware of this situation and she posted
signs at the High School before the test. Mr. Blake came to the
test after the test had already started but since he explained
what happened the Commissioners decided to let me take the test,
even though the test had already started.
3. James Herten, another candidate, came to take the test but Tracy
Ice had no application from him. He said he took his application
to the post office and had it post -marked and mailed the
application and that it must have gotten los.t. The Commission
decided that he could take the test but that his application must
be in Tracy Ice's hands and post -marked before the cut-off date
before the results were returned. Mr. Herten agreed and within a
few weeks the post office found the application and returned it to
Tracy Ice - Mr. Hertens met the cut-off date and his score counts.
