If a candidate just missed meeting the vision requirement by a small margin, then it would be unfortunate that this person doesn't get the job, that is if he/she has other important qualifications. This didn't make sense then or now. What happens if a Police Officer who wears glassesvgets them knocked off? Dr. Huffman said that at close range people can usually see pretty good. They have problems seeing at a distant. Contacts are very hard to knock out especially the soft contact lenses. We'd like to of course have the perfect candidates with perfect personality, education, vision, etc. but this is not realistic.
