CITTA' OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />„TOGETHER AVE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!" <br />CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION <br />MINUTES— JUNE 21, 1999 <br />7:00 PM <br />I. ROLL CALL: <br />Chairman, Cummings called the meeting- to order at 7:1 Opm. <br />PRESENT Chairman, E. Cummings, Commissioners, J. Thomay, and L. Zolar. <br />ALSO PRESENT Safety Director, T. Jenkins, Fire Chief, Bak, Fire Captain, Klecan, and <br />Secretary, D. Rote. <br />11. DISPOSITION OF MINUTES: The minutes of May 17, 1999 Civil Service meeting have been <br />submitted for approval. <br />E. Cummings motioned to approve the Civil Service minutes dated May 17, 1999, as written. <br />The motion was seconded by L. Zolar and unanimously approved. <br />III. REPORTS: <br />There were 96 correspondences sent and received. <br />E. Cummings motioned to approve the correspondences as submitted. The motion was seconded <br />by J. Thomay and unanimously approved. <br />IV. OLD BUSINESS: <br />1). The Ohio Fire Chiefs Association was hired to administer the Assistant Fire Chiefs <br />promotional exam. There were three Captains eligible to take the Assistant Fire Chiefs <br />promotional exam. As there was only one Captain who wished to participate in the <br />promotional exam, each of the six Lieutenants were invited to participate in the exam. Four <br />out of the six Lieutenants accepted the invitation to partake in the promotional exam. The <br />written exam was administered on June 3`d' two candidates failed to show -up, and therefore <br />their names were removed from the eligibility list. The Oral assessment was administered on <br />June 5tb. The Commissioners will need to certify the results of the Assistant Fire Chiefs <br />promotional examination. <br />E. Cummings read the results of the Written and Oral Assessment scores. He indicated that <br />Fire Capt. Klecan scored the highest points, which were 101.081. The two remaining scores <br />were 96.374 and 93.154. Mr. Cummings announced that Fire Captain Klecan would be the <br />new Assistant Fire Chief. Each of the Commissioners congratulated Captain Klecan. <br />E. Cummings moved to approve the results of the Assistant Fire Chiefs promotional exam. <br />The motion was seconded by L. Zolar and unanimously approved. Motion Carried. <br />V. NEW BUSINESS: <br />1). The Fire Chiefs Association will administer the Captains and Lieutenants promotional exam. <br />Six Lieutenants were invited to participate in the Captains promotional exam. Five <br />Lieutenants wish to partake in the exam. Thirty Fire Fighters were invited to take the <br />Lieutenants promotional exam. Nineteen Fire Fighters wish to partake in the exam. The <br />
