CITY OF NORTH OL,MSTED <br />"TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!" <br />CIVIL, SERVICE COMMISSION <br />MINUTES —January 17, 2000 <br />7:00 PM <br />I. ROLL CALL: <br />Acting Chairman, Thomay called the meeting to order at 7:1Opm. <br />PRESENT: Acting Chairman, J. Thomay, Board Members, L. Zolar and P. Farrell <br />ALSO PRESENT: Mayor, Musial and Civil Service Secretary, D. Rote. <br />H. DISPOSITION OF MINUTES: The Civil Service minutes of December 20, 1999 have been <br />submitted for approval. <br />J. Thomay motioned to approve the Civil Service minutes of December 20, 1999. L. Zolar <br />seconded the motion. Roll call on the motion: L. Zolar; yes, P. Farrell; abstain and J. <br />Thomay; yes. Motion Carried. <br />III. REPORTS: <br />There were 7 correspondences sent and received. <br />J. Thomay motioned to approve the correspondences as submitted. L. Zolar seconded the <br />motion. Roll call on the motion, L. Zolar; yes, P. Farrell, abstain and J. Thomay, yes. <br />Motion Carried. <br />IV. OLD BUSINESS: No items. <br />V. NEW BUSINESS: <br />1). Election of new Chairman and Vice Chairman. <br />L. Zolar motioned to make J. Thomay Chairman. P. Farrell seconded the motion. <br />Motion Carried. J. Thomay motioned to make L. Zolar, Vice Chairman. P. Farrell <br />seconded the motion. Motion Carried. <br />2). Board members need to be updated on the Police Lieutenants promotional exam. <br />The clerk reviewed that packets were sent to each of the Police candidates. The packets <br />included the time and date of the examination as well as a background of who would be <br />testing them and what they should do to prepare for the test. Each of the candidates was <br />given until January 14, 2000 to notify the Civil Service office if they personally knew any <br />of the assessors. The clerk reviewed that there was questioning from the Police Chief as <br />to whether or not the candidates should know what they would be tested on and who the <br />assessors would be. After speaking with the Police Chief and the testing company the <br />clerk decided to follow the recommendations of the testing company and sent out the <br />information packets. As of January 14, 2000 no testing candidates had contacted the Civil <br />Service Office regarding the testers. Note: At this point Mayor Musial joined the meeting to <br />officially swear Patrick Farrell in as a member of the Civil Service Commission. Mayor Musial <br />called Mr. Farrell forward to be sworn in and take the oath of office. Mayor Musial commented <br />
