CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED "TOGETHER.WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!" CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES - DECEMBER 159 2003 COUNCIL'S CAUCUS ROOM 7:00 P.M. I. ROLL CALL: Chairman Thomay called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. PRESENT: J. Thomay, and M. Ubaldi ABSENT: R. Giesser ALSO PRESENT: Assistant Law Director B. O'Malley, and Civil Service Secretary A. Kilbane II. DISPOSITION OF MINUTES: The Civil Service minutes dated November 17, 2003 have been submitted for approval. J. Thomay made a motion to approve the minutes as submitted. The motion was seconded by M. Ubaldi and unanimously approved. III. CORRESPONDENCE: There were 6 items of correspondence received and 7 items of correspondence sent out. J. Thomay made a motion to approve the correspondence report. The motion was seconded by M. Ubaldi and unanimously approved. IV. OLD BUSINESS: 1. Commissioners need to make motions on administering a Building Inspector exam: Application packets need to be approved - Mr. Thomay said he believes the applications were approved at the last meeting. There was further discussion about what issues have been addressed. There was a review of the proposed exam calendar. J. Thomay made a motion to approve the application packets for the building inspector exam. The motion was seconded by M. Ubaldi and unanimously approved. Ads for notification need to be approved, and a request made to have notification placed on local cable channel and City web site M. Ubaldi made a motion to have the notification of the exam placed on the local cable channel and on the city web site. The motion was seconded by J. Thomay and unanimously approved. e• Dates to run ads in newspaper need to be set M. Ubaldi made a motion to submit ads to run in The Plain Dealer on January 4, 2004 and the WestLife on January 7, 2004 for the building inspector exam. The motion was seconded by J. Thomay and unanimously approved. Dates of examinations need to be set M. Ubaldi made a motion to set the date for the building inspector exam to February 23, 2004. The motion was seconded by J. Thomay and unanimously approved. e• The purchase orders for the Building Inspector exam and the ads needs to be approved Mr. Thomay asked how much the exam is expected to cost. Mr. Ubaldi said he believes the figure is $600. Mrs. Kilbane indicated the purchase orders have not been filled out yet. Mr. O'Malley said he believes Ramsey & Associates was approved at the last meeting as the company to administer the test
