CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING <br />MAYOR'S CONFERENCE ROOM <br />MINUTES - DECEMBER 18, 2006 <br />7:00 P.M. <br />I. ROLL CALL: Chairman M. Ubaldi called the meeting to order at 7:10 pm. <br />PRESENT: M. Ubaldi and W. Hohmann <br />ALSO PRESENT: Assistant Law Director B. O'Malley, Civil Service Secretary Donna Eccleston <br />II. DISPOSITION OF MINUTES: <br />The Civil Service minutes dated November 20, 2006 have been submitted for approval. <br />Mr. Ubaldi made a motion to accept the minutes as submitted. Mr. Hohmann seconded the <br />motion and unanimously approved. <br />III. COMMUNICATIONS: <br />There were 23 items of correspondence received and 20 items of correspondence sent out by the <br />Civil Service Commission. <br />Mr. Hohmann inquired about the issue with Don McNea Fire School. The secretary will work with <br />the Law Department regarding a response for public records request from Don McNea Fire School. <br />Remove Steven Yanke's name from the Police Entry -Level Eligible List <br />A certified letter was sent out by the Commission to Steven Yanke regarding the removal of his <br />name from the Police Entry -Level Eligible List. Mr. Yanke never responded to the letter. <br />Mr. Ubaldi made a motion to remove Steven Yanke's name from the Police Entry -Level <br />Eligible List. Mr. Hohmann seconded the motion and unanimously approved. <br />Address Business Related to the Promotional Examination forAssistant Fire Chief <br />A tentative date of January 27, 2007 was set for a written examination for the position of Assistant <br />Fire Chief. No letter of resignation has been received by the Commission; therefore, this issue will <br />be tabled for the next meeting. Mr. Ubaldi indicated that the testing company is on notice; unofficial <br />details have been discussed; written test will be weighted at 25%; oral assessment will be weighted <br />at 75%; there will be no combined test for the other ranks. <br />Police Sergeant Larry Clute will be retiring as of January 3, 2007. A written and an oral assessment <br />will have to be scheduled before March 3, 2007. A Police Sergeant will be testing up to Police <br />Lieutenant leaving a vacancy. The sixty (60) day testing period starts when the Commission <br />receives a notice of vacancy from the appointing authority. The testing dates for Promotional Police <br />Sergeant rank should be in February and coordinate with the testing company's availability. <br />
