CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED SPECIAL CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING MAYOR'S CONFERENCE ROOM MINUTES - MARCH 26, 2007 7:00 P.M. I. ROLL CALL: Chairman M. Ubaldi called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. PRESENT: M. Ubaldi, W. Hohmann, and K. Zolar ALSO PRESENT: Safety Director T. Terbrack, Assistant Law Director B. O'Malley, Civil Service Secretary D. Eccleston II. DISPOSITION OF MINUTES: III. COMMUNICATIONS: IV. OLD BUSINESS: Miscellaneous Internal Tasks in Regards to Testing Mr. Ubaldi indicated two (2) unforeseen events for the Promotional Assistant Fire Chief Examination that occurred after the last meeting. One (1) of the five (5) reference books is between printings; therefore, an addendum was sent out. One (1) of the firefighters did not receive his certified notification until the deadline date, March 16, 2007. Most of the candidates received their notification within a few days and two (2) candidates received it on March 16'h with one (1) returning his letter of intent the same day. The other candidate put it in interoffice mail on Saturday, March 17, 2007. Legal counsel suggested the Commission to cancel the test and reschedule. A general discussion followed regarding the announcement as soon as possible; send invitations to the firefighters; posting; firefighters' mailboxes at the station; written examination will be on Saturday, May 12, 2007; Saturday, June 2, 2007 is scheduled for the Oral Assessment; firefighter's letter of intent received after the deadline; defective posting; post pone the test to a later date; use same four (4) references; testing site. Mr. Ubaldi made a motion to cancel and reschedule the Promotional Assistant Fire Chief Examination as it was intended for the rank of firefighter; new dates will be on May 12, 2007 for the written examination and June 2, 2007 for the Oral Assessment. Mr. Hohmann seconded the motion and unanimously approved. Mr. Ubaldi indicated another minor matter with the Corrections Officer Examination. Reviewing the past Corrections Officer Examinations, in 2001 only eight (8) candidates were tested and in 1997 only twenty six (26) candidates tested. The small conference room in the North Olmsted Public Library was reserved for this examination; fifty five (55) applications received. The alternate site will be at the Senior Center.
