CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br /> CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING <br /> CITY COUNCIL CAUCUS ROOM <br /> MINUTES - MARCH 18, 2013 <br /> 7:00 P.M. <br /> I. ROLL CALL: Chairman J. Barrett called the meeting to order at 7;03 p.m. <br /> PRESENT: J. Barrett, M. Ubaldi and M. Ilayes <br /> ALSO PRESENT: Human Resources Director C, Farver, Asst. Law Director B. O'Malley, S. <br /> Barrett, S. Spencer, and Civil Service Secretary D. Eccleston <br /> II. DISPOSITION OF MINUTES: <br /> Chairman Barrett moved, seconded by Commissioner Ubaldi, that the minutes of the <br /> November 19, 2012 meeting be approved as received. <br /> Motioned passed unanimously, <br /> Chairman Barrett moved, seconded by Commissioner Ubaldi, that the minutes of the <br /> December 17, 2012 meeting be approved as received. <br /> Motioned passed unanimously. <br /> III. COMMUNICATIONS: <br /> There were 24 items of correspondence received and 9 items of correspondence sent out by the <br /> Civil Service Commission. <br /> IV. OLD BUSINESS: <br /> V. NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Review Correspondence from Entry-Level Patrol Officer Applicants <br /> The Commission received correspondence dated February 7, 2013 from Shane Spencer, an <br /> applicant from the Eligible Entry-Level Patrol Officer List, disputing his final score. Mr. Spencer is <br /> claiming that he should have received 3 extra credit points for education instead of 2 extra credit <br /> points. When he submitted his application to the Commission,to the best of his knowledge he did <br /> include a copy of his degree. The Commission reviewed his application packet and did not find any <br /> proof of a Criminal Justice Degree. A discussion followed regarding the spreadsheets with the <br /> computation of points; Rule V, Extra Credit; application packets. <br /> Chairman Barrett motioned, seconded by Commissioner Hayes, shall the Commission adopt <br /> the appeal of Mr. Spencer to award him 3 extra credit points instead of 2 extra credit points. <br /> Roll Call: Mr. Barrett, no; Mr. Hayes, no; Mr. Ubaldi, no. <br /> Motion did not pass. <br />
