CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br /> CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING <br /> CITY COUNCIL CAUCUS ROOM <br /> MINUTES -JUNE 179 2013 <br /> 7:00 P.M. <br /> 1. ROLL CALL: Chairman J. Barrett called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. <br /> PRESENT: J. Barrett, M. Ubaldi and M. Hayes <br /> ALSO PRESENT: Director of Human Resources C. Farver, Asst. Law Director B. O'Malley, <br /> Director of Public Safety S. Thomas, Police Chief J. Gallagher, S. Barrett and <br /> Civil Service Secretary D. Eccleston <br /> II. DISPOSITION OF MINUTES: <br /> Chairman Barrett moved, seconded by Commissioner Hayes, that the minutes of the January <br /> 28, 2013 meeting be approved as received. <br /> Motioned passed unanimously. <br /> Chairman Barrett moved, seconded by Commissioner Hayes, that the minutes of the <br /> February 11, 2013 meeting be approved as received. <br /> Motioned passed unanimously. <br /> IH. COMMUNICATIONS: <br /> There were 3 items of correspondence received and 8 items of correspondence sent out by the Civil <br /> Service Commission. <br /> IV. OLD BUSINESS: <br /> V. NEW NESS: <br /> Promotional Police Sergeant Examination <br /> The Commission received a letter from Safety Director Scott Thomas regarding an examination for <br /> Police Sergeant. <br /> Safety Director Thomas informed the Commission that the City currently has six (6) Police <br /> Sergeant Positions filled and the seventh position has been vacant for about three (3) years. The <br /> City has three (3) Police Lieutenant Positions filled and would like to leave the fourth position <br /> vacant at this time. <br /> Police Chief Gallagher stated that he will be retiring in 4 years at the most and will have some <br /> Lieutenants and Sergeants that will be reaching the retirement age and will be leaving as well. The <br /> Chief would like to start planning for his succession and the other replacements. <br />
