CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ARTS COMMISSION <br />MINUTES OF JANUARY 16, 2019 <br />6:30PM <br />ROLL CALL <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:33 p.m. in Council's Caucus Room. <br />Present: Keith Behrendt, Jackie Chavez -Anderson, Sue Collander, Wilma Kepperley, Annie <br />Kilbane, Stephanie Procter, Leah Rogalski-Davis, Janelle Zauner <br />Absent: Laura Simna <br />Staff: Planning and Development Director Kim Lieber, Planner James Aspery <br />COMMISSION ORGANIZATION <br />Leah Rogalski-Davis was nominated to be Chair in 2019, which passed unanimously. Stephanie <br />Procter was nominated to be Vice Chair, which passed unanimously. <br />Kim provided an explanation of the new Commission Rules and Procedures. This document is <br />new in 2019 and contains useful information to keep the Commission running efficiently through <br />proper meeting procedure and etiquette. Annie moved to approve the Rule and Procedures, <br />seconded by Jackie, motion passed unanimously. <br />Kim explained the 2019 Commission budget, outlining the three main expenses categories and <br />their function related to Commission spending: Other Supplies, Printing and Outside Services. <br />The budget numbers provided are intended as placeholders as the group develops their event <br />budget. All revenue brought in from events goes back into the city's general fund and does not <br />increase the amount of funds available for use. Once the budget is approved by City Council, <br />only Council can add funds. Funds may be moved between different categories as necessary. <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Jackie moved to approve the Arts Commission minutes of December 19, 2018, seconded by <br />Janelle, motion passed unanimously. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Springvale Coffeehouse I February 21 <br />Keith confirmed Terry Groden as the emcee for the event. James will email event information to <br />Mr. Groden. He and Laura are working on securing a sound professional at a flat rate of $125. <br />Keith stated that the event should be shared with students of all ages across the schools to <br />encourage more participation. James shared that three performers have applied to date. The event <br />has been shared via the City's website and social media channels, with an article and several <br />email campaigns coming soon. Kim suggested that the city's SITES student could take flyers to <br />pass out to students at the high school and offered to share the event with John Knox Church and <br />the BW music department.
