CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ARTS COMMISSION <br />MINUTES OF AUGUST 21, 2019 <br />6:30PM <br />ROLL CALL <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. in Council's Caucus Room. <br />Present: Jackie Chavez -Anderson, Keith Behrendt, Sue Collander, Wilma Kepperley, Annie <br />Kilbane, Suzie Patton, Stephanie Procter, Leah Rogalski-Davis, Laura Simna <br />Absent: Janelle Zauner <br />Staff: Planner James Aspery <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Stephanie moved to approve the Arts Commission minutes of July 17, 2019, seconded by Keith, <br />motion passed unanimously. <br />REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND COMMITTEES <br />Yoga in the Park <br />Jackie shared that approximately 47 guests attended the August class. Leah mentioned that the <br />box of PA system supplies did not contain any microphone cables, but thankfully it was not an <br />issue for the instructor. James and Jackie will examine their equipment inventory to ensure that <br />nothing is missing. The final event of the season will be held on Saturday, September 71n <br />Party in the Park <br />The group discussed the July 27`h event, agreeing that it was a success with very few issues to <br />report. Jackie and Stephanie noted that the stamps were a bit too damp for a humid day and <br />appreciated having the wristbands as a backup option. It was agreed that the drink ticket process <br />was slightly confusing for patrons and will need to be reworked for 2020. Jackie noted that the <br />number of auxiliary police officers may need to be increased next year. No crowd issues were <br />reported beyond a few people wandering outside of the beer garden area. Jackie noted that the <br />Cabin was somehow opened twice during the event and had several people using the restrooms <br />and milling around. She requested that that area be patrolled by either a volunteer or an officer to <br />avoid this in the future. It was agreed that adding wine to the 2020 event should be explored <br />along with expanding the beer garden area. Leah reported that food trucks did very well, with <br />some encountering issues keeping items stocked. Stephanie recommended adding smaller snack <br />vendors to alleviate lines and offer something quicker and easier to obtain. James shared that he <br />will be talking to the event's sound professional about increasing the PA system's capacity for <br />future performances to ensure it lasts as long as possible. Suzie requested that the Commission <br />explore using recycling bins for the event, whether purchased our borrowed. It was agreed that <br />purchasing bins or racks would make more sense to use at various events throughout the year if <br />they can be stored securely. It was agreed that an emcee should introduce the bands and deliver <br />announcements throughout the event. Leah noted the idea of asking the Police Department to <br />take aerial drone footage since the stationary surveillance camera does not serve this function. <br />
