Mayor's Art Show
Sue shared that she is waiting to schedule the next committee meeting until she hears back from
the high school Art Department with their interest. Other Art Department contacts were
discussed and will be contacted to ensure that the message is received. James will also reach out
to school staff. The group examined a 5 ft. art rack and thanked Wilma and Kim for arranging
their delivery to City Hall. Sue asked if the racks came with any clips or hanging mechanisms.
James will confirm this and let her know.
North Olmsted Noel
Annie shared that she and James have created a lighting site plan and timeline for holiday
decorations. Annie is working with the local Home Depot to ensure that the correct supplies are
ordered to serve the Commission's needs. Supplies are scheduled to be ordered by mid-
September once the site plan and supply list are finalized and approved by the Service
Department. The idea is to have everything in -hand by October at the latest to allow for plenty of
time before everything is installed in late -November. Sue recommended using longer light
strands on the spruce trees along Lorain Road and providing some form of internal illumination
for the water tower bus. Keith recommended using larger LED bulbs and working directly
through commercial suppliers for lighting and heavy duty decorations.
The group discussed the North Olmsted Noel event scheduled for Sunday, December 8th from
2:00-5:00 PM at the Community Cabin. Annie confirmed that Santa and Mrs. Claus performers
have been reserved and are awaiting official booking. Members agreed to contact specific
community groups to gather interest prior to the September meeting. It was agreed by all that
these groups will not be charged a vendor fee as long as they are offering holiday -themed crafts,
activities or items. Fundraising is permissible as part of this arrangement. Wilma will publish a
call for community groups to Community Council member organizations. New groups are also
being contacted, including athletic and music booster organizations. Leah agreed to contact the
high school to book the Special Edition choral group for a performance. Suzie will search for
balloon artists to compare vendor rates.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Open Mic Night at Springvale I September 6
James shared that 24 performers have applied to perform at the Friday Night Mics event, with 6-
8 available slots depending on the set duration. Members are to select their eight favorite
performers so that they may be contacted on August 26th. Responses to the online poll are due by
Friday. Each performer will get approximately 15 minutes per set. Jackie has shared the event in
the Senior Center newsletter and has inserted event flyers into handouts for an upcoming event.
Springvale staff is working the caramel apple station as well as the cash bar. Free coffee will be
provided. Performers will be set up near the fireplaces to make sure that there is adequate
lighting. Picnic tables will be decorated with the votive candles used in past events. The
Clubhouse is available if weather is too severe to host the event outside, although the pavilion is
sheltered. Signs will be posted directing guests to the pavilion. Members should arrive at 7:00
PM to assist with arranging tables. Doors will open at 7:30 PM and the first performances will
begin at 8:00 PM. James will meet the event host Jason Meyers at 6:30 PM to get the PA system
