ARTS COMMISSION <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MINUTES OF MAY 20, 2020 <br />ROLL CALL <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. via online public meeting. <br />Present: Sue Collander, Stephanie Procter, Janelle Zauner-Hoffart, Wilma Kepperley, Jackie <br />Chavez -Anderson, Leah Rogalski-Davis, Keith Behrendt, Bryan O'Malley <br />Absent: Laura Simna <br />Staff: Planning Director Kim Lieber, Administrative Assistant Nicole Rambo -Ackerman <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Jackie moved, seconded by Keith, to approve the Arts Commission minutes of February 19, <br />2020, motion passed 9-0. <br />REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND COMMITTEES <br />Yoga+ <br />The third Yoga+ event was canceled on March 14 due to the pandemic. The series was popular <br />and Kim thinks it is a good event to continue in the winter months. <br />Summer Yoga in the Park — NOPR <br />The Parks and Recreation Department have the last Saturdays in June, July, August and <br />September for this event. The events have not been publicized yet but an instructor has been <br />selected. In another week or two, staff will determine if the event is able to be held based on <br />mass gathering limitations. <br />Earth Fair <br />The commission was disappointed that the event was canceled. The vendor fees were refunded <br />and paid deposits were returned to the city. Instead of refunding the deposit for the musician, the <br />balance was paid and he can be reserved for a future event. This is one of the events that may <br />need to be revamped in the future depending on the restrictions for large events. <br />Party in the Park <br />The event has been canceled due to the pandemic. Additional fencing was purchased to expand <br />the sitting area for the beer garden which can be used for future events. <br />Friday Night Mics <br />Kim thought this event can be reformatted based on the gathering restrictions. Before the <br />pandemic started, it was hard to choose a date that worked for staff and the commission. <br />Butternut Ridge Pocket Park <br />A piece by Steven Gutierrez was selected for the pocket park, titled "Our Roots Grow." Sue <br />described the piece as a progressive gathering piece — it is a solar -powered LED tree with <br />benches around it that look like roots coming out of the ground. She thought it tied into the city's <br />
