There is another position that is currently open in
that department and has been posted. The A&Y Supervisor position is currently being interviewed.
RECREATION RENOVATION PLAN UPDATE:
We had concerns about the rink roof and after an inspection the roof deck is fine but everything around
the roof, insulation and HVAC all need improvements. The ice rink also needed improvements, so with
the savings of not replacing the roof deck we will be able to include that with the project. This will also
include blocking off the rink from the warming and concession area.
The ball field project at North Olmsted Park will include moving four diamonds to the bottom of the park
and keeping the rest green space. This project has not been funded but something we would like to
work towards in the future.
FRIENDS OF RECREATION UPDATE:
Frank Bolton has volunteered to be the president of Friends. They had a fundraiser and raised $2,300.
Their future goal is to by a trailer that will be used to transport yard games, tables and chairs to events
or private yard parties.
EVENT UPDATES:
In January National Skating Day is normally a one day event, we turned it into an event for the month
that included various activities. February was Heart Awareness month, we had a Lunch and Learn
presented by University Hospitals with readings for cholesterol and blood pressure. We will also be
offering a free CPR class to promote awareness. We are going to try and hold different events in the
upcoming months. And our Senior Casino Challenge is still a popular event, it helps encourage
participation with monthly prizes.
