Building Coordinator Katie Seeley, Director Max Upton, Law Director Michael Gareau,
Administrative Assistant Lyn Wilson
RESIDENTIAL APPEALS AND REQUESTS
175-2024; Johnathan Blankenship; 5266 West Park Dr.
Representative: Johnathan Blakenship
The applicant requested a variance for a storage building, seeking approval for a 10 -square -foot
increase in size, from the allowed 150 square feet to 160 square feet. The proposed shed would
be 10 feet by 16 feet, located on an 18,000 -square -foot lot. The existing shed was to be removed.
The applicant explained that the need for additional storage arose from difficulties with a small
garage and the requirement to store tools for both personal and work purposes. The applicant had
initially considered a larger size but was advised to request the 10 by 16 dimension, which was
deemed acceptable.
Mr. Kovach motioned to approve 175-2024; Johnathan Blankenship; 5266 West Park Dr.;
seconded by Ms. Patton.
Motion Passed: 3-0
176-2024; Gary Straka; 3342 Walter Rd.
Representative: Gary Straka
The applicant requested a 40 -square -foot variance for a storage building, proposing a 140 -
square -foot shed (10 feet by 14 feet) on a 10,250 -square -foot lot, as the existing shed was
damaged by a tree and removed. The applicant explained that due to physical disabilities,
including lupus, he struggled with tasks like carrying heavy items and needed additional space
for storing equipment such as a riding mower, snowblower, and bicycles. The new shed would
accommodate these items, allowing for easier access. The applicant also noted that neighbors
had approved the plan, and the damaged shed was too small for his needs.
Mr. Kovach motioned to approve 176-2024; Gary Straka; 3342 Wlater Rd.; seconded by Ms.
Patton.
