LANDMARKS COMMISSION <br /> CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br /> MINUTES OF FEBRUARY 14,2022 <br /> ROLL CALL <br /> Mr.Neville called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm via online meeting. <br /> Present:David Neville,Jim Morse,David Anderson,Tom Dubowski,Elizabeth Cardarelli,James <br /> Gearhart,Duane Limpert <br /> Absent: Sarah Egan-Reeves,Gretchen Schuler <br /> Staff: Economic and Community Development Director Max Upton, Assistant Law Director <br /> Bryan O'Malley,Administrative Assistant Nicole Rambo-Ackerman <br /> Mr.Dubowski moved,seconded by Mr.Limpert,to excuse the absences of Ms.Schuler and <br /> Ms.Egan-Reeves,motion passed 7-0. <br /> COMMISSION ORGANIZATION <br /> Mr.Dubowski moved,seconded by Mr.Gearhart,to nominate Mr.Neville for Chair,motion <br /> passed 7-0. <br /> Mr. Neville moved, seconded by Mr. Dubowski, to nominate Mr. Morse for Vice Chair, <br /> motion passed 7-0. <br /> REVIEW AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> Mr. Dubowski moved, seconded by Mr. Limpert, to approve the Landmarks Commission <br /> minutes of November 8,2021,,motion passed 7-0. <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> 2021 Year in Review <br /> Mr. Neville suggested adding the ward redistricting project to the report even though it was <br /> approved in 2022.Mr.Gearhart also suggested adding the installation of the artwork at the Kiwanis <br /> Pocket Park.Mr.Neville and Mr.Dubowski volunteered to be on the committee. <br /> Historic Preservation Plan <br /> Mr. Limpert suggested that the Commission coordinate with the schools to preserve stories and <br /> oral history about Forest and Pine Elementary Schools since they will close soon.The Commission <br /> previously helped save some of the stonework from the former high school which has been <br /> incorporated into the new building.Mr.Limpert can reach out to the schools if needed.Mr.Neville <br /> knows the schools were designed for pod learning which was forward-thinking at the time. Mr. <br /> Limpert said the buildings were also designedto accommodate the local neighborhoods and reduce <br /> the need for bussing. He believed Dr. Van Auken was the Superintendent at the time they were <br /> built.Mr.Limpert suggested doing an amendment to the preservation plan instead of revisiting the <br /> 1; <br />
