North Olmsted Arts Commission <br /> Minutes of the Tuesday,February 20,2024 Meeting <br /> 6:30 PM <br /> Old Town Hall <br /> Present:Mark ai171 Jaen, Becky Tesar, Keith Behrendt,Nahid Parsipour,Susan Begin,Frank Boulton, <br /> Bryan O'Malley,Rick Haase. <br /> Absent:Tahani Mousa, Lori Kershner. <br /> The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Keith Behrendt. <br /> Minutes of the December 19, 2023 meeting were approved. The January 2024 meeting was cancelled. <br /> The election of officers for 2024 was held for the positions of Chairman and Vice Chairman. Nominations <br /> were confirmed for Frank Boulton as Chairman and Mark"165 a V. Chairman,who were both <br /> unanimously elected. <br /> The'passing of the gavel took place from Keith Behrendt as 2023 Chairman to Frank Boulton for 2024. <br /> Keith thanked everyone for their participation and support during this tenure as Chairman. He will now <br /> serve as Chairman Emeritus. Frank Boulton, likewise,thanked everyone for being so welcoming and <br /> encouraging him to take on the leadership role. <br /> A brainstorming and planning.sessionthen took up the rest of the meeting. <br /> Keith shared with the group that he attendecl.the first City-sponsored Master Planning focus group, <br /> which had a focus on arts and culture,at the North Olmsted High School Eagle's Nest and was impressed <br /> by the commitment to the arts on the part of the Administration. <br /> Members of the Commission then reviewed a list of ideas compiled from previous meetings to spur the <br /> discussion. <br /> The first item on the list was the upcoming Mayor's Art Show,which will take place with an opening <br /> reception from 6-8 p.m.on Wednesday, March 13. Rick Haase shared that N.O.H.S.students will this <br /> year take responsibility for the set-up and curatio,n of the Art Show, including the preparation of <br /> individual student statements to correspond with each piece of artwork. There are anticipated to be <br /> more than 50 pieces in this year's show. Hours the show will be open to the community will be 9 a.m.to <br /> 1 p.m.on both Thursday and Friday, March 14 and 15, and from 10 a.m.to Noon on Saturday,March 16. <br /> Arts Commission members will.volunteer to be on hand for each day of the show wherever possible. <br /> The question was raised as to whether the Arts Commission will be visually represented during the <br /> show. At the December 2023 meeting,the creation of a new logo and corresponding branding was <br /> discussed. Frank Boulton said he would be sending samples of a new logo—created by his daughter, a <br />
